Around the McMansion (A new home for the J&K+8ers w/out J&K chatter!)

I think they get cancelled because the plane is empty.

I don't know about Christmas, but my brother works for Continental, and the early flights on Thanksgiving day are usually oversold... it's a very popular time to fly.

Hey all

I have family still in from Thanksgiving so I haven't had a second to hop on and check in. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving....okay now we are off for some Christmas shopping.

I cyber shopped on Thanksgiving and Black Friday,
the boxes are showing up on the doorstep.
My UPS guy is going to kill me,
does anyone tip their UPS deliver guy?

I give mine a gift certificate to Dunkin Donuts. I used to make stuff, but I realize now they dump it since they really don't know us..and I don't blame them.
He goes out of his way to put my packages on the back porch if I'm out, and carries them in if I'm home.

Hey Y'all!! Merry Christmas everyone! :santa: I hope you're all having a great holiday season with your families!!

I never thought of tipping the UPS man! I probably should though with all the packages he's brought lately.

Howdy y'all!

Newtodis--what a cutie, but wow that is a lot of stitches, poor kiddo! I've only had stitches once, on my foot (stepped on something in the water at Atlantic City when I Was about 9 or so years old).

Cool scar though--it follows the coastal line of Massachusetts.:thumbsup2

Anywho--

DH started the job. Woooo!!! Pay is much less in both what he actually earns and the consideration that we now pay out the wazoo for everything.

Blizzard was this weekend--and none in the forecast on Christmas Eve. Woot!!! No worries about planes being empty since word is that all the cancellations from the weekend will keep the planes quite full through this coming weekend.

And we are having a girl!!! She's kicking now and everything, but likely only something I notice. I haven't been able to feel it with my hand, yet. And she's healthy. Woot!

Congrats Lisa. Sounds like a girl is what you were hoping for.
We are awaiting the birth for our 4th grandchild today (all the others are teenagers, so this is even more exciting..it's been awhile since we've had a baby in the family). Our son and his wife lives overseas, so lots of phone calls, twitter and myspace. It's been a long day, but if they hold out for 6 more hours, I win the baby pool LOL! We'll be going in January to meet the newest member of our family.
Merry Christmas and Happy holidays to all of you. It's been a lot of fun this past year sharing with you all.

Naahh---a boy would have been great as well. But it is easier (IMHO) to shop for cute baby girl clothes.

So is she in labor as we speak??? How exciting!!!!!

She is. No idea if it's a girl or a boy, so they have the nice surprise to share as well. We'll be thrilled with either. Just want a healthy baby and mom. They have installed a nanny cam, so we'll get to see baby when appropriate, once home.

Hey Lisa! Yeah it's healing up pretty nicely actually. The "problem" now is that for nine months we need to keep it covered whenever he's outside since his skin is so "young"...that should be fun at the beach this summer!

Glad DH's at his new job. Hopefully soon a huge pay raise! :rolleyes1

How'd you fare in the blizzard? I miss snow on Christmas so much. It's so hard to get in the spirit and make it "feel" like Christmas without the snow.

Yay for a girl! And double yay for healthy!! Congrats!!

What a great idea with the nanny cam!!

Happy Holiday's everyone.

See what happens when you go to Universal by yourself?
You end up buying your kids t-shirts, and they come back to haunt you, when you least expect it.

Hey all,

Christmas was very busy, we had a white Christmas...first time in I don't know how long. In fact, much of it is still on the ground. Anyway, we had a great Christmas with family, it all went by way to quickly though.

Our Bichon got into my purse and ate a pack of Trident. Turns out the xylitol (sweetener in sugar free gum) is poisonous and can be fatal to dogs..so we had to rush him to emergency clinic after church one night. He is fine, but that was our big drama for the holiday.

Lisa, congrats on your daughter and hubby finding a new job. I am glad the new year is off on a positive note for you all.

So Doris, did you end up with a grandson or daughter?

BTW: Today was the first time since the beginning of December that I looked online for news on J & K. Guess that 12 step program helped. :)

We have a beautiful new granddaughter, Aine. I happen to be in Ireland right now visiting her. Lucky for me, her parents don't think hubby and I can spoil her by holding her. I held her from 6 am til 11 am this morning (we are 5 hours ahead of the East Coast). Whagt a doll, and it's like looking into my son as a newborn. It was an exciting Christmas Eve!

Is Aine pronounced "Awn-ya"? Beautiful name!

Congratulations! Have fun snuggling her. :lovestruc

Ireland? Wow, that is exciting in itself. Congratulations on Aine, how do you pronounce the name? Have fun and enjoy the time you have with them!

Congratulations Doris! That is wonderful news.:goodvibes Wow, Ireland? What a great reason to take a trip there. Newborn babies are the best, arent' they? How special that you're able to be there to see and hold her. Was she born Christmas Eve then?

It's pronounced AWN-ya, which is Anne in Gaelic. She was born Christmas Eve, and I really appreciated phone messaging. We were able to keep abreast of the the coming of the baby! She's just beautiful. It's funny to think I will have a grandchild with an Irish accent.

Aww Congrats Dorris!! How wonderful.

Tanya - how crazy about your dog!

I've been avoiding the Dis boards because I'm having Disney withdrawl but I got some good news that I have to wait a few months to confirm. Once that's confirmed, we're going to DISNEY!!! The family just doesn't know yet! DH and I had already agreed to take a portion of the income tax return and buy APs again with it so this will be awesome!! Other than that, life's just busy, busy, busy. Our nanny put her notice in and her last day is next Friday so we've been frantically trying to figure something else out. We've interviewed two girls so far and the one we loved accepted a part time job at a local school so now we're trying to figure out if/how that will work with our schedules and what's available as other options....it's always something! The in laws will also be here in two weeks so I've been cleaning like crazy. We're supposed to have a garage sale Saturday but it's calling for rain so we're doing it next Saturday. Gotta make room in the garage for our cook out we're having while they're here and start saving up some Disney money. We'll have about 50 adults and 20 kids at our house in a couple of weeks so that should be fun!
