7am came and guess what – yes I woke up.
Today is Julie’s birthday (and guess who had left all her cards at home!). At least she had her Disney birthday badge to wear.
We had planned an early entry morning at Epcot, but we just couldn’t be bothered to rush and get ready, so it was decided to try MGM instead.
After performing my usual mug filling duties we set off for the bus deepo.

It was a very hot morning, and as it was an early entry day in Epcot we expected MGM to be a bit quieter – I guess everyone had the same idea!
There was an almighty queue – not to get in, but for the silly bag inspections. There were just 2 security guards on duty and the lines stretched almost back to the bus stops.
When we finally got to the turnstile my AP decided to stop working – fortunately the nice CM let me in and advised me to go straight to guest services to get in changed. This I did. The CM said the magnetic strip had been corrupted and had I stored the pass with a credit card? I realised I had both the AP and my credit card together in my wallet the night before – shan’t be doing that again.
With a brand new AP we headed to the Muppets 3D show and on the way picked up FP for RnR. The Muppets show is getting a little dated now and really needs an update.
After a nice fish and chip lunch at the ABC thingy we hopped on Star Tours (5 min. wait) and then we headed to use our FP at RnR and picked some up for ToT at the same time. I forgot to keep my mouth closed at the start of RnR again – and couldn’t breath until half way round.
Nicola does not like ToT, so she waited in the shop while the rest of us went on. I lost count of the number of time the lift went up and dropped! I noticed they have changed the retraining bars with individual seat belts – much better.
As the heat was getting a bit over-powering we decided a nice ice cream was in order. Julie and I had a one, but the girls decided on a turkey leg between them instead. That kept them quiet for an hour LOL.
As the crowds were building up even more we decided to head back for a nice long swim at the POR quiet pool.
We had arranged the day before that Lorraine and family would ‘borrow’ our DDs for the evening to allow me and Julie a bit of time to ourselves (very nice of them). Lorraine knocked on our room at 5:30pm and took our little babies away. It was so strange being without them, it was at least 2 minutes before we got over the shock and started to celebrate LOL.
Julie and I headed over to Epcot – we planned to take advantage of being childless to have a good look round the World Showcase – something that is near impossible with kids in tow! We started in Canada and worked our way around through the UK and by the time we reached Morocco we were both hungry and decided to give the Marrakesh restaurant a try. We didn’t have PSs; but they weren’t that busy so we got a table straight away. After having the combination appetizer for two (beef and chicken brewat rolls and a jasmine salad), Julie had the roast lamb and I had the Shish kebabs. Julie was shocked to get almost a whole leg of lamb on the bone!
We enjoyed the meal, although I expected the food to be more spicy than it was.
The belly dancer was good too.
We gave dessert a miss as we had arranged to meet Lorraine later at Beaches and Cream.
After finding a very nice spot for illuminations we settled down to the show – we would watch Illumination every night if we could.
We had never been to the Epcot resort area before so decided to take a slow walk round to the Beach Club via the Boardwalk and Swan/Dolphin. We loved the Boardwalk and spent a while in the shops. It was still a bit early so we decided to go and have a nose in the Swan lobby – very nice. You don’t realise how big these hotels are until you get close. Once we reached the Beach Club we had a slight problem finding Beaches and Cream. Eventually we found it having to go via the lobby. It was smaller than I imagined. Lorraine wasn’t their yet, so we headed back to the lobby to sit in the air conditioning. After a while we ventured out again and we were greeted by my DDs – they seemed to have had a great time with Lorraine and family in MK – they even got to ride up front in the monorail (I was extremely jealous!).
We found a large table and ordered drinks (we were still full from dinner and the girls didn’t fancy anything), and sat talking overlooking the storm-a-long bay pool.
Tom (Lorraine’s hubby) then offered to drive us back to POR, which was very nice of him. We all walked along to the Yacht Club entrance as Tom brought the car round for us. Lorraine and family were headed back home the next day so we said our last farewells, interspersed with various hugs, handshakes and kisses and we climbed into Tom’s car for the journey back to POR. It was 11:45pm when we got back to the room – and they still sent me out to fill the mugs!

Thank you Lorraine, Tom, Mike and Lauren for being so nice to us, we really enjoyed meeting you all.

Part 7 next – First Rainy Day
