Ariel's Grotto: Can't get reservations...Drop in?

I'm heading to Disneyland & California Adventure this weekend.

After reading so many negative things about the new Princess Faire attraction, I was hoping to splurge on lunch at Ariel's Grotto so my girls can see the Princesses with the least amount of hassle.

We only decided a week ago to head to the parks and I only decided today to make reservations. I didn't realize you should make reservations at least 4 weeks in advance!

I'm assuming they leave spots open for people who just want to drop in. Anyone have experience with this? Any other good way to get time with the princesses?

Thanks!

Well I would keep calling, several times a day. People do cancel. If you don't pick up a cancellation then the first day you are there, head to DCA and Ariel's as soon as they open and speak to the hostess. They might be able to get you in or offer advice about a good time to come wait for a possible table. I have gotten in at Ariel's and Blue Bayou doing this.

I agree with Amy. Call again. I posted about this previous.. it's very common for one CM to tell you that there are no reservations available, only to get a different CM tell you differently. So I'd keep calling back. If you keep getting a no, stop by Ariel's Grotto first thing the morning you want a reservation and put your name on a stand-by list. They almost always hold a few spots for walk-ups and they are first come, first served. So getting there early is beneficial to you. Good luck!

Thank you for your quick replies! And thanks for giving me hope!

I'll keep trying and ask them to check for cancellations.

I appreciate your help.

Thank you for the advice. While my husband was waiting in line to buy our tickets, I decided to call again. There was a cancellation and we were able to get in.

The price was a bit high for what we got (especially the kid's meal - she selected the "octa"-dog & mac-n-cheese), but she was thrilled to see the princesses.

Thanks again!
