I've been watching flights for October and this morning they plummeted. I was trying to decide what actual dates (whether it was better to have time off before half term, or after) and when I'd kind of made a decision the prices had gone back up.

I am so mad, it was showing at around £400 cheaper. (£1721 for 2 adults and 2 kids direct)

Guess I'll have to hope that it does it again!

I am also watching flight prices for October :) First week, I noticed Friday was a lot cheaper then yesterday of today! Hoping they go back down too!

What sites are you searching on? I'm looking at flying with Virgin or Thomas Cook at the minute so I can go direct from Manchester.

Argggh - there is nothing worse is there. I have had this happen a few times with Disneyland Paris trips, on both accommodation discounts and flights :scared1:.

It's scary how much flights can shoot up in the space of a few hours. It doesn't help you but I think it's Air France where you can pay a nominal fee (think it's £5 pp) to keep the flights you've seen for a limited amount of time. Wish more operators did that, but I guess they are out there to make as much money as possible :rolleyes1.

Hope you get sorted soon - it's a case of being ready to book next time you see a good price :).

I know it's my own fault, as I've got older I have become less decisive about stuff. As we are going to have to pull my daughters out of school I was trying to decide whether it was better to miss the end of the half term, or the beginning of the next half term.

I am looking at flights from London, or Manchester (I live in the Midlands) and mainly at Virgin direct as they seem to be the cheapest.

I have tried BA but for some reason they always want to fly me out of Heathrow, but back into Gatwick which is no good.

It's most annoying as I could have had premium economy return flights and the total would have still have been slightly less than economy is now showing :sad:

What time did you check for cheaper flights?

Maybe check around the same time every day & they might drop again :)

Urgh! That sucks. We've all done it. He who hesitates is grounded these days :headache:

Remember to clear your cookies and keep searching. I have found often good prices come out at stupid hours during the night. I think they do that on purpose so that there is nobody to phone/answer a post if you want an opinion.

Keep checking, but be aware that Virgin currently have a sale on which ends 28 Jan 14 and the prices will probably go up again then - until the next sale, of course.

Just before Christmas when I spotted the sale had started I went online to check prices for the flights we needed for Oct 14. Looked one night, decided to book the following morning. Went on to book and the prices had gone up, I thought it was probably because only a certain number of seats would be available on each flight at sale prices and that I'd missed out. Ran it through again a few times, same result. Gave up and went out for the day. Came back in later, had another try and got the exact price I'd seen the night before - I booked before it could disappear again!

Fingers crossed that it works out for you too.

We took our children out of school the week following half-term. The flights before half-term sold out more quickly and were more expensive the closer we got to the date. We are also in the Midlands and flew from Manchester, which was really good - nice easy drive and the Premier Inn was opposite the airport.

You might be interested in my trip report - link in my signature - as we went at a similar time of year x
