A different promotion from 12 months ago is the basis for all this confusion? Target stopped allowing $ off and % off coupons on Disney Gift Cards months ago. Now all of the sudden it's being brought up as if the exclusion on the 20% off BF coupon is brand new.

No, this was just one poster's reasoning. There are lots of previous posts explaining that the confusion mainly lies in how TARGET has consistently defined "gift cards" and "entertainment cards." If you want more details, read throught the entire thread, it's very entertaining.

I don't understand your particular passion in defending a huge corporation from the big bad consumers, but ok. Look, if you go to 5 Target stores with crazy requests, you will be turned away each and every time. The fact that some people are able to get their requests met shows that the ad is problematic. They are not going to give customers hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise for free, just to get them off their back, unless there is a fundamental problem in interpretation of the 'facts'.

I don't think any of us are arguing that only Disney cards are different. Target categorizes Disney and LOTS of other restaurant/movie cards as "entertainment cards." It is Target who chose to re-categorize the Disney card (and some others) differently for purposes of this coupon. I bought two $25 Regal Cinemas gift cards yesterday and received the discount automatically. The Regal and Disney cards are both categorized by Target as "entertainment cards" so it's Target, not those of here, who are saying Disney cards are different.

As previous posters have said many times, Target itself does not use this definition. If they did, there would have been absolutely no confusion amongst Target's own store managers or amongst the employees of the service line which someof those managers called.

The manager at the one target store I went too agreed with me 100% that the coupon was unclear. She agree with me that Disney cards are entertainment cards and that the coupon made it seem like target gift cards and I tunes card. This being said I still didn't get the discount bc guest relations told her no

It should work unless Target has excluded them from that discount as of today as well. There were people on here yesterday who said they used pharmacy rewards and Red Card discounts on Disney cards with no override necessary.

Last year's discount was different. It was a static amount: $10 off $50(+). There wasnt any legitimate way to get $10,000 in gift cards for $8,000 (remember, not only Target's policy but also their software limited two coupons per printer).

I found the coupon. By (a) not limiting the gift card exclusion to just Target cards, and (b) accurately not referring to the iTunes cards as gift cards - well, it's clear.

Disney (Southwest, Chili's, etc.) Gift cards are labeled gift card right on the item.
Gift cards are excluded from the 20% discount.
Therefore, Disney etc gift cards are excluded from the discount.

The coupon doesn't specify only Target gift cards in the exclusion (like the Red Card and Pharmacy discounts do).

Correct. Unless the paranoid fears of some have come true and they changed the RedCard discount and/or Pharmacy Reward terms overnight, these should still work and stack on Disney Gift Cards since these programs only exclusion regarding gift cards are "Target Gift Cards". Nobody should let the banter here about the 20% off coupon stop them from using those two programs to get their deserved discount.

I suspect it should NOT have worked on Regal cards but they are slipping through the system for now.

Other reports are the 20% is not working on the other "entertainment" cards. Plus the recent sales ad clearly calls them "Gift Cards". So be prepared for a hazy grey cloud of "gift cards" to remain and the whole "entertainment card" classification to disappear after the dust settles this season.

My guess is they're looking for you to produce a receipt where the 20% came off AUTOMATICALLY, not with an override. A receipt with an override proves nothing. And they want the ID to look it up and see their records, so they'll see it was done manually.
