Thought I'd better post this here too since I KNOW everyone is waiting! Don't bother rushing out for gcs in the am. My hubby is a manager for target and although the coupon is not allowed to be used until tomorrow, it became active as of this afternoon. He tried scanning some merchandise, and it all rang up correctly with the 20% off, but the Disney GC's popped up as a red screen that said something to the effect of "No promotion offered on this item". Yep, the 20% will NOT work on Dis cards. There is not even a way for managers to override it as some people were hoping if it wouldn't work. Sorry guys.

Absolutely! We are actually doing our grocery shopping there tomorrow to take advantage of that ourselves! I really, REALLY wish we would have been able to get the disneycards tho! I was SO hoping to finish paying off our upcoming trip and get extra for food. We also had plans to buy starbucks cards too, but those won't work either. boo.

Yea, this. They pre-activated it for prices checks, but they will not take the coupons from guests until tomorrow.

I plan on doing my full grocery shopping and the rest of my Christmas shopping so that still gives us a huge savings. Thanks again for the info. No problem. I went back and forth on if I was going to say anything or not, because I didn't want to be a big downer on the disboards, but then I figured it might help save a whole lot of time, especially for folks who maybe aren't too close to a target. Still, I am sure there are many, many people who won't hear the news and are going to be so bummed tomorrow when they try it! My cousin was hoping to pay off her spring WDW trip too, I hear. sigh. Well, you know what they say "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". lol

I question the legality of them refusing to honor the discount for what they have always categorized as "entertainment cards." There are only a few listed exclusions and entertainment cards are not listed. By re-categorizing these types of cards without notice to the public in order to not honor the discount, they could be violating truth in advertising laws. It will be interesting to see if anyone contacts their state's Attorney General over this issue. I wasn't planning on getting any Disney cards, but had hoped to get a few restaurant and movie cards.

The coupon excludes gift cards. The Disney GC are gift cards. The restaurant GCs are gift cards. The movie GCs are gift cards. Where is there any deception on the part of Target? Just because they ring up as "entertainment" cards at the register, that doesn't mean that they are not also gift cards. I would hope that my state AG wouldn't waste her time and taxpayer money on such a complaint.

Target absolutely does label them "entertainment cards." I was in the store tonight and the sticker above the Disney cards says "entertainment card."

It might say "entertainment card" on the price sticker, but the gift card packaging that holds the physical card for sure says "gift card". I am willing to bet if any legality issue was raised, all their legal team would have to do is point to the physical card. Target may label them entertainment cards for their team members merchandising/stocking purposes, but that is just the genre of giftcard, i.e. it's not a visa card, etc., it's for entertainment, but it's still a giftcard.
