Help me feel better about this, folks. I had a price drop alert setup on iTravel, and just receieved a notice that flights for the 3 of us out of Toronto this weekend are $875 round trip!!!! That's a few bucks cheaper than it's costing us to fly JetBlue out of Buffalo. :( IT would have been so nice to fly out of Toronto and save the driving.

If anyone is able to take advantage of a last minute trip, the airfare out of Pearson on Sunwing is $9 pp, plus taxes. That's right.. $9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought it was for the labour day weekend last minute deal. I do see it SEp 2 - 9th but taxes are ridiculous! $300 rt inc taxes.

I'm also flying out of Buffalo Sept 1st to MCO with JetBlue and this deal woulda been great to take advantage of :(

I'm going to try and make you feel better:
1) if you fly from YYZ you have to arrive a minimum of 90min. before the flight:sad2:
2) The lines to get through US customs going into/thru YYZ are not organize well and you wait forever in line
3) then you have to re line-up to go thru security, dragging your luggage forever (ok #2 & 3 might be reversed but the process is still the same regardless which order).
4) and the absolute worst is you walk for miles and miles and miles before you get to the boarding lounge:scared::mad:
5)then on the way home you have to do the whole thing again...walking miles, waiting for baggage (cuz it too has to travel miles to get to baggage claim) customs :guilty::sad2::crazy2:

For the extra drive time to BUF (45min), walking right up to the counter 45min before flight,(and get rid of check bags), 5 minutes to go thru security -boarding lounges right there (not miles away) I'll pick BUF over YYZ (when the savings aren't much, but usually BUF is better deal) EVERY SINGLE time. :thumbsup2 just IMHO

But i hope you have a great time in WDW:cheer2:

The flight savings would have been negated by the cost of parking.

:thumbsup2 excellent point

Tell me about it! 5 days of parking at T3 costs $140.00 Wish I hadn't been caught in traffic on Lakeshore/427 on a Friday for 2 hours before my flight. Had totally planned to do Park N' Fly for $55.

Oh yes - there's no traffic jams at the Buffalo airport on the 427!

Just drove home yesterday on the QEW from Buffalo to Toronto. There is a lot of construction going on going towards Buffalo and there were many back ups. Make sure you give yourself some extra time.

We parked at the Pearson value lot this last July and took the link train to the terminal. Was 15.00 per day max 70.00 for 7 days. Quick and easy!

Are all of Canada's major airports as disorganized as Toronto's appears to be?

That's not a pretty picture, and especially if the amount of walking you described is accurate.

Ottawa international is NOT like Pearson - nor is Vancouver. Pearson is just too big.

I say be thankful you can travel Labour Day weekend. My kids are at an age where we have to travel during school breaks and I was jumping for joy finding flights for 430 each during March Break! 1700 for the 4 of us! :scared1:

Pearson is one of the world's busiest airports and in 2011, over 33 million passengers walked through the airport in 1 year! So yes, it is a large airport to be able to handle that kind of passenger volume. It's just a few notches shy of Orlando International airport in terms of passenger volume.

We have flown out of Pearson many many times and it has always been a positive experience and we have not had issues with disorganization from our own experiences. It's great to read that you found such a great deal to fly round trip from YYZ to MCO with Sunwing. They have had some great pricing lately for flights for a variety of dates to Orlando the last little while.

You did well to find flights for 4 for $1700!
Pearson is a big airport, I find the problems arise when you need to transfer terminals. Otherwise it is no different than any other large international airport. We were there over Christmas last year with a tight connection and two young boys, the staff were very helpful and we flew through US customs and to our connection without a problem.

We are heading down dec and I just checked pricing out of Toronto. For 5 it would cost $2025.00. I have already booked buffalo for $1100.00 to save $925.00 I will drive to buffalo. We did the same thing last year and save close to $650.00 so this year we scored.
We are staying at the best western $110.00 including parking for a week.
The cost of parking in Toronto would be more!!

The easy of buffalo is worth the drive for us.
