I have DGDalmost11 and DGS8. DGD could go to Disney several times a year. DGS likes it, but doesn't like to be without his mom or dad, depending on who he is without at the moment.
When DGD was 8, she was saying she would *always* want to go to Disney, so we made a pact and signed an Eggspectation napkin document, witnessed by DD. Said document states that DGD will go to Disney with Grammie when she is 16. (I had been saying when she is 16 she may not want to be with Grammie......)
5 more years......time will tell. So far she is very much a Disney girl - no hesitation on her part at all to want to go.
As for friends, I won't offer to take a friend. I just don't want that kind of responsibility - to take a child that I don't know anything about. If she has to have a friend with her to want to go on a trip, then there is no trip. Of course, much different for me being the Grammie rather than the Mom. I can go on vacation easily without her!
