Are you treating the flu w/any OTC meds?

The boys on either side of us that DS's play with daily (just yesterday they were playing with them) have been diagnosed w/flu today. So far my boys (8 & 5) are fine--knock on wood, I'm shoving orange juice down them and reminding them not to touch their faces.......

I'm running errands tomorrow, thinking of going ahead and getting any OTC meds that I could use to help fight the flu in case they get it (praying they don't!), and it wouldn't hurt to keep through the winter I'm sure. It seems like the peds around here aren't prescribing Tamiflu unless they have other factors, which my boys don't.

Are there any OTC meds you're using for your kids? I already have Advil and Tylenol.

We used cough medicine and motrin for DD. DS14 got Tamiflu and the doc said to keep giving him motrin to keep the fever down-he hasn't had any since this morning and his fever is still down-probably from the Tamiflu??

Whenever anybody in our family starts to get congested, we immediately treat them with an OTC Rx that includes Guaifenesin, which is in Robitussin and Mucinex. It helps to keep their chest from becoming "tight" and makes it easier to breathe.
