Are you supposed to only deal with your local AAA?

I got a PM from a fellow Dis'er who gave me the name, phone and email of her AAA agent.

I sent an email to this lady and got a reply that I should use my local AAA office. She then gave me the URL for AAA and told me to put in my zipcode so I can go to the appropriate office. :confused3

All I want is a quote that actually gives me a discount and doesn't charge me a fee to book it.

I tried to get in touch with someone at my local office today to ask about the booking fee thinking it was a mistake since I pay over $120 per year for AAA Plus. I called 3 times (9am, 1pm and 4:30pm). They close at 5pm. All 3 times I got the same old take a message and get back to you right away. Nothing.

I thought you could go through any AAA office as long as you were a AAA member.

Am I wrong?

If anyone has a nice AAA agent you have dealt with can you PM me?

I'm just a normal, nice person. We work hard for our money. A booking fee doesn't bother me, but $40 is a lot of money to book a trip for me especially when AAA is getting money back from Disney if I book through them.

I thought part of my paying the $126 AAA Plus membership fee for DH and I was being able to book trips, but not be charged a fee for doing so.

I deal with a great AAA agent in Washington state, and I live in Illinois. She has never told me to go with my local. I tried that and I knew a heck of a lot more than they did. I missed out on a discount because she didn't go ahead and book when I told her to. So, I ended up going thru an agent 3,000 miles away. :confused3

I snet you a pm with my AAA agents info and if you have any other questions feel free to Pm me!

Word of warning. We aren't supposed to give out AAA agent names and/or phone numbers on the Dis boards (not even as a pm). I received the name of a wonderful agent, and shared that with some Dis'rs this week. I received an (friendly pm from the the moderator, but clearly explaining what the rules are) and they asked that I not do that, since it is against the rules. They also edited my threads.

I wasn't aware of the rule, so I figured I would share it with you all to save you from getting into any trouble.

I booked through my local AAA here in Illinois and was very dissatisfied with her service. She seemed indifferent and minimal Dis knowledge. I got the name/email from the DIS boards of a great AAA agent in MA and rebooked through her. She has been very helpful and is truly into Disney, which I appreciate. You can use an agent anywhere, unless AAA has suddenly changed their own rules.

A AAA agent I called locally, in NJ, totally blew me off so I booked on my own. I think in the future I will call random agents and quiz them on WDW and see if they pass the test, then that is how I will choose who to use.
