Are you spending Christmas Day at home this year?

Yep. Just me, DH, and DS15 and DD10. We're arriving back from Disney late on Christmas Eve (plane arrives at 7:30 p.m., back home around 9 p.m.), so I'm looking forward to a quiet day.

We will be home, which is nice because we travel a lot for holidays. My kids just need some down time. However, we will miss family. Either we travel or we are by ourselves for the holidays. Our family rarely travels to our home. (Even though they are more than welcome!)

We always stay home for Christmas. I hate traveling during the holidays. I'd much rather spend a quiet Christmas at home with my kids, doing what we like to do (watch TV, play games, eat a big dinner.) Our families live 400 miles away and it's very hard for us to travel anyway, between Christian and DH. It's much, much better for everyone if we go "home" at other times, like June or April. And it's much less emotionally fraught. Holidays are always full of high drama when we go home. I'd just rather not.

We always stay home on Christmas after spending Christmas Eve with the family. But this year we will be flying to Disney World Christmas morning!

I probably will come off sounding like Scrooge, but we will spend a very short time at my Mother on Christmas Eve, and Christmas day is spent alone with just our little family. Me, DH, DD, and DS. I wouldn't have it any other way. When the kids were little we traveled all over the place. I have apologized to the kids since then. It wasn't fair to anyone. The stress was overboard. Everyone knows my door is open... The only people we may see our the kids friends on their way home from their families....

We fly out Christmas Eve heading to Maryland
warm florida to the cold:scared1:

My brother is having Christmas at his house this year
as my Niece was born Dec. 11th
cant wait to meet the new addition to the family:cloud9:

NO not a scrooge at all! That is how it should be . My inlaws live in Alabama, last year was the first xmas at their house. I was miserable .. even though I do love them. I like to be in my home for xmas.
Hubby works shift work though so it was the first time ever he had off from Thanksgiving to the New Year. So I agreed to spend all of our holidays with his family. We went up at Thanksgiving , came home 3 weeks and then back again Dec 21 till Dec 28. My DS7 and DH loved it, but we cant do it again for 5 or 6 more years. My extended family here was sad, but they understood.

We wont leave our house at all this year, but all know our door is open to everyone. Thank goodness, not a big family here lol. My Aunts and cousins will be gone. Inlaws coming in for a week, which is great as we know they have a new grandbaby coming in Feb and they wont want to leave Bama for Christmas for a few years. My parents will visit on Christmas day.
It will be low key and quiet, just games, church and yummy food. We arent even going to cook a big dinner, seafood gumbo on the menu.

I let my family know when DH and I got married they all better get along because I was never going to split my days up visiting two different homes. Thank goodness they all love each other, because we have spent many holidays together in the last 14 years.

This year we will be at home for Christmas and all of the family are visiting Christmas day. Next year however we will be in WDW for Christmas and New Year!!

we'll also be home for christmas - and i'll be cooking the turkey dinner for our family - again.....:rolleyes1
