Are you serious? We get to go back? – Nov PTR ~ Update 3/5 A real update, I swear!

Oh my goodness! I can't believe how grown up Dylan looks in your pictures from this summer! He looks like a little man!

I can't wait to find out where you are staying (the timeshare again?...) and all the yummy places you will be eating!

Oh, wow, Dylan has grown up so much since the last WDW trip!

Way to go for your nephew picking WDW for his trip! :thumbsup2 Clearly, your parents have properly instilled the Disney bug in all future generations of your family. :rotfl: I would love to do some sort of extended family trip like that someday, when/if we and SIL/BIL have kids. Looks like fun!

That's cool to see DHS w/o the hat. We were there in 1990, shortly after it opened, so I'm sure we saw it that way, but I don't know that we have any pictures. :confused3

Here's the Christmas tips thread I subscribed to:

It's super-long, so I can't say I've read it all, just jumped around and picked up random tips.

Looking forward to more!

PS-There's nothing nerdy about details and spreadsheets! Of course, I work in accounting too... :)

Hi Alison! I'm here!! So excited for you guys!! :yay: It sounds like it's going to be a great trip! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to hear all about your plans.

Dylan is getting to be such a big boy! :goodvibes

Love the pic of you and your sis at "MGM".

So cool that your nephew chose WDW as his trip! My son is a junior in high school and has already decided that's where he wants his trip to be, too! Fine by me! :thumbsup2

Here is a recent photo of us from a summer trip.

Wow, this is a great photo of all of you!! Love it :goodvibes

Hi Everyone, I'm Angelyn, Alison's sister.

I'll be tagging along . . .

Nice to meet you!
:flower3:

Dylan just makes me smile- for reasons you understand why. He reminds me of my little guy! Blonde hair..blue eyes...:goodvibes

Looks like this is going to be a fun trip!

We don't have one planned yet. But we are going sometime next summer, just don't know when!

Wow, you weren't kidding when you said that Dylan has grown up so much now. He is like a little boy now and not a toddler anymore. Isn't it crazy how fast they grow up? Can't wait to hear more details and what places you are going to eat at.

I told you he was getting big! Part of it is that he is just so tall.

Our plans have ranged all over the place. I wish I had started this PTR sooner so that you could have seen all the changes going on! Hope to do another update soon.

Yes, I'm not sure if the family "Disney" tradition has been a blessing or a slight curse. ;) The curse is all of the money spent to keep up the tradition!

Thank you thank you for that Christmas thread! I can't wait to start reading it. I want to try to take full advantage of being there during the holidays to experience all that we couldn't normally do.

I will have to find more of the pictures from that trip. Our clothes are hilarious (& embarrassing), but it is fun to see the park back in the day. Thanks for reading!

The picture of my sister & I at MGM is from the summer after she graduated high school. I think it is cool to do a trip to celebrate graduation. It is such an accomplishment in their life. I'm secretly glad he chose Disney too, because we get to benefit!!

I know, our boys are so simliar. I am loving your TR right now, because it is almost like visualizing some of the things that Dylan will be doing. I love the age that they are at. So fun, and every word that comes out of their mouths is very honest and usually funny.

It is really weird to be mixing in pictures of our last trip and pictures from July. The changes in him are so crazy and yes, he looks like such a little boy. We had his 3 year annual check up the other day and he is 42" tall. Everyone who meets him thinks he is at least 4 years old. I kinda feel bad for him. It's like he skipped the toddler stage a little bit (at least size-wise).

I love this age too. He is growing up so fast and I hate it!

Getting Started

I was excited to see Alison's PTR. To me, it means that time is getting close for a much-needed vacation!!

I have been to WDW twice in my lifetime, my son Elijah has been once and this will be hubby Bryan's first trip. We're from southern California and have been long-time Disneyland annual passholders. With young kids within driving distance of DL, it just can't be beat!! It is a great way to spend an evening or a quick weekend of entertainment with the kids, when all you have to do is drive up and go.

So when Elijah said he picked WDW as his graduation present choice, I of course immediately called Alison for advice. I told her, "I can't believe it. We told him he could go to Disneyworld, Hawaii or Boston/NYC and he picked Disneyworld!!"

What I heard next over the phone can only be described as a cackle from Alison. pirate: "Oh, really? HEH-heheheheheheh." Then a quick whisper. "Todd. Angelyn says Elijah wants to go to Florida for his graduation." A couple more whispers back and forth, and then, a bunch of clicking and tapping noises. :cool1:

That's right, they've already got a search going and have immediately snapped into planning mode. :yay: I pictured a 'war room' type scene in the middle of their living room, :grouphug: where someone pushes an "alert" button and all the sudden a huge screen lowers from the ceiling with a 3-d holographic map of WDW.

So now, here we are 7 weeks out. I can't believe it!

This has been such a difficult year (for MANY people!) Without going into the boring details, there has been much stress and not much of a break.

This past week was the busiest work week for the entire year. Both my biggest clients had events this past week that were a whole year in the making. The past couple of weeks I was travelling, staying up late, and not getting more than 4-5 hours per night of sleep.

So after working straight thru the past 2 weeks and weekends, today (Friday) I am taking the day off. And I just realized that now that I'm successfully past the busiest work period of the year, and tomorrow we will be exactly 7 weeks out from our WDW trip!

The rest of the waiting is going to go very quickly (I hope!)

Alison mentioned that, as kids, our family used to go to Disneyland for one day every summer. So I dug around and found a couple more pictures.

The first is not actually at Disneyland, but I'm sure that it we were on the way there. (In fact, it looks like it might be Solvang?)

The second is at Disneyland right after I left for college in San Diego. Alison came down with the church youth group and I drove up with friends. This is just inside the main gate.

Next up is from around 2004. This is us and our brother at Disneyland.

And then finally, to end on a funny note. This is us with our mom, leaving Orlando VEERRrrrry early in the morning. Can you tell which one of us is not a morning person?

Don't act like you haven't seen our Disney war room. We paid a lot of money for that 3D map. The best part of your post is that you recognize that Todd gets excited about the planning too. It's not just me.... And now you are sucked in too. :thumbsup2

I just have to say that we totally rocked those matching lime green trench coats when we were kids. I love that picture.

As for our nifty sweaters in the other pic.... I have no words. Can we blame it on the '90's?
