Are you reconsidering your plans for January & February 2022?

It took me almost two years to get up the courage to visit Florida again with all the dire warnings coming out of DC. I'm over 65. We visited during Food & Wine in November, walked among at least 8000 unmasked people in EPCOT and flew home exhausted but healthy. I stopped worrying and my BP came back to normal.

Now we have a trip coming up in late January and the warning out of DC are all over again re Omicron. So now in a wait and watch mode. If I cancel, Member Services told me we lose all our points which are booked from 2021 (Feb use year).

For those of you planning a trip soon, are you also in a wait and watch mode or is it just me and my paranoia?
We are here now (on our 7th of 14 days). The only time I have felt uncomfortable at this point was getting stuck around the tree of life during the initial “lighting” of the tree last night. We couldn’t move. There was literally no way for people to exit the park if they wanted to. Disney needs to do something about that for safety reasons — and not just asking about Covid safety reasons.

They have started making constant announcements about indoor masks and cast members have started reminding people in the queues. That was not happening the first couple of days. You still have people who don’t think they have to follow the rules and will take them off during the rides. I do wish Disney would do a better job of addressing this with people when they get off the rides as if there is no actual repercussions for doing it they will continue to do so. Example — the other night on Remy’s they would most start the ride until a 3 year old put a mask on (this was on our ride vehicle). After several minutes the dad took his off and put it on the kid. The cast member neglected to see this so the dad rode the ride without anything on. We spoke to the ride operator after the ride as it completely killed our experience on the ride. They said….”yep I did see that”. Well, nobody addressed it with the family. No matter what rules are being broken it should be addressed.

At any rate, this was a long way of saying that we feel as safe here as I would probably feel going to a grocery store, work, etc.
