Are you really sure we want to do this again? DXDP- 7/5 Chef M's, CRT , and WCC

This was another favorite from our last trip, and did not disappoint! We had an 8:15 time, skipped the pic with Donald, and went in. Our waiter was Rudi, and he was fabulous! I actually kept the receipt with the price from this one, and is was $94.75 for 3 adults 1 child. Seeing that just blows me away. Thank goodness for the DxDDP!

In fact, that's one reason we get it. It is a lot of food, a lot of time, but there is so much less stress about the money we are spending while we are actually there.

For whatever reason, I didn't take food pictures. Maybe I was burned out of the whole picture thing, buffet pictures are hard, because someone always needs to get up and get another plate, a character is coming, you miss a plate, whatever.

But I will give reviews:

Again, the yummy juice. The last time we'll get it. Coffee. What more can you want?

I went for a carb feast. They have these cream cheese filled roll ups, called cheese blintzes, with fruit toppings, that are worth the trip alone! Very, very good. I topped mine with cherry filling, like cherry pie filling. Mmmm...... I had a 1/2 a bagel, with an herbed spread that was very good. Not enough carbs for you? I also had some banana-cinnamon bread budding with vanilla sauce that was every bit as good as Ohana serves. And the fruit. Lots of fruit!

DH loves all the different foods here. I am not big on foods being mixed together, so they don't appeal to me. He had a ham and cheese frittata, corned beef hash, some carved ham, the beef bobotie quiche, which seemed to have sausagey stuff in it, and a yam casserole. He declared each and every dish to be delicious. Just not my personal cup of tea!

DD1 - you guessed it, bacon, watermelon, and she had 2 doughnuts. Such a healthy breakfast!

DD2 had biscuits and gravy, and some grapes.

Character interaction here is great, plus I think it's the only meal with Daisy. Donald was outside, and Goofy, Mickey, and Daisy, were inside.

P1040500.jpg

All in all a wonderful meal. They have a parade, too, that the girls enjoy traipsing around in. Plus, you are in a great spot for an early safari!

Or as DD1 calls it Yak and Yucky! We were not at all hungry, and probably should have just cancelled. The girls were a bit hungry, and we were all HOT and tired, so we went in.

We were promptly seated, and still damp from Kali. IT WAS FREEZING IN THERE! I actually went to bathroom to try to warm up with the hand dryer, but it didn't work.

Wendy was our waitress, and by far the worst of the week. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but her fake smile and walk as if she were heading to her death bed, not refilling drinks, and general inattentiveness could not be called good service. I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt, and remember that this is their JOB, and we all have bad days at work. She wasn't rude or anything.

APPS: I got my lettuce cups, that I thought were sooo good last year. I think my brain was frozen and I forgot the pictures. They were good, the meat to go in them is tasty, and the shredded veggies are fresh and give it a nice crunch. I shared with DH, and he shared his pot stickers with me. They were pretty good, too. DD1 got wonton soup for her app, and she and DD2 shared it. It helped to warm them up, and she said it was good.

Entrees: Since we weren't hungry, we decided to try something different. I ordered mahi mahi.
P1040571.jpg

I don't like breaded fish, and the fish itself was very dry. The sauce was okay, but rather sweet. I like their coconut rice, so I had a little bit of that and ate my veggies. I would NOT order this again.

DH ordered the curry seafood:
P1040570.jpg

It had mussels, shrimp, not sure what else. He didn't care for it at all. He just said it wasn't good, and couldn't really tell me why.

DD1 got the crispy honey chicken, and she didn't like it either. DH tasted it, and said the chicken was dry, but it had a decent flavor. It was just out of her little box, I guess.

P1040573.jpg

DD2 got the kids burger with fried rice. She liked the rice, and ended up eating mostly that. It also came with jello.

P1040569.jpg

I was soo cold, we didn't get dessert pics either. DH and I both got the fried wontons, which were my reason for coming back. I was highly disappointed, they were very tough, yet greasy. The flavor of the sauce and ice cream were still good, though. ;)

DD1 got the sorbet trio. Mango, lemon, and raspberry. She loved the lemon, gave her sister the raspberry.

All in all we were VERY disappointed with one of last year's favorites. To top it off, they do the bill differently here. The waitress writes it down, and give you a written total. Well, we filled out the charge paper for tip according to what she wrote, and her service. When the computerized copy came out, the total on that was less than what it was on the written bill. I wish I had it, it was only a few dollars, but we would have knocked even more off the tip!

Chalk it up, move on, but we won't be back for a few years!

Thanks for the great reviews! I have both Tusker House and Yak and Yeti booked - on different days, which seems like the way to go....I'm really looking forward to both.

Quick question: where did you get your girls' green Mickey dresses? Did you make them? They are so cute!!!!

I don't sew! I got them off Etsy, there are a lot of really cute things there!

Wonderful updates, I'm so glad you loved Yatchman's Steakouse. We went to Narcoossee's a few times and I wanted to Try a few different restaurants this trip. Sorry, you did not like Yak and Yeti (another one that we are trying and been reading good reviews...I'm hoping it turns out well for us but if not at least we tried it once). Your girls outfits are so adorable. I had asked the disboard where they get their outfits and a few wrote etsy.com, I can't sew either so I have to order some stuff for our Holiday Disney trip.
I'm enjoying your report and can't wait for more

We really liked Y&Y last time. Part of it could be we didn't order the things that sounded best to us. Since we weren't really hungry, we stepped out and ordered something different. Plus, when you are full, nothing is that great. Our waitress was not good, no matter how you bounce that ball, but I don't expect everyone to be a shiny, happy person all the time, and try to just chalk it up to a bad day! The steak and shrimp that DH had last year was really, really good!

Your girls are sooo cute!! Nice to hear about the Yachtsman, we have an adr for our anniversary in September, and keep thinking of changing it.

After having finished lunch only 4 hours before, we WERE NOT HUNGRY. I wanted lite and refreshing. The fact that we had eaten so much this day will contribute to the "view" and review of this restaurant.

Decor - pretty, nothing spectacular!
Service - she was okay, again, nothing spectacular
Food - with a few exceptions, it all tasted alike, regardless of what it was supposed to be.

As I stated, buffet food pictures at character meals, especially, were just not happening. But here you go!

Strawberry soup - it is good. Similar, to me, to a non-tangy strawberry yogurt. It was refreshing, as much as something with heavy cream in it can be, so it fit the bill.

Salad - I made a salad, and that was definitely good!

Main dishes - the prime rib, especially with the horseradish, was very tasty!
HOWEVER, I tasted paella, chicken marsala, stir fry. They were all very bland, and all tasted exactly alike. The girls got some pizza, maybe some mac and cheese, fruit, typical kids cuisine. DD1 ended up eating bread and fruit. She didn't like anything she ate.
DH tried a variety of dishes, proclaimed them all edible but not great, with the exception of the prime rib.

Desserts - there were a variety of these, the lemon cheesecake tart was really good. Bread pudding was okay. The girls got soft serve, and liked it.

Character interaction: At the end of the day, the characters are really why we book these ADR's, right? It's not supposed to be about food!

Cindy - she was sweet. After she spoke, they played her music for her and Prince to dance, and she promised to come back, which she did. However, it was speak, make a comment about being sisters and hoping they got along better than she did with hers, "come stand for a picture" pose, and leave. We found that we had much better Cindy interaction at Akershus.

P1040576.jpg

Ahh... the Prince. DD2 talks about dancing with Prince Charming daily. When she is "playtending" she is going on a date with Prince Charming. She is going to marry Prince Charming when she grows up. I couldnt' wait for this one. I just KNEW she was going to be starry eyed. WELL, he walks up, and the kid VAULTS across the table without a pole into her Daddy's lap. I guess sometimes, meeting your fantasyman is just too much REALITY! She did agree for a picture with him IF her Daddy would hold her.

P1040579.jpg

P1040577.jpg

However, one of our best memories from this trip involved him, and had nothing to do with our family. When it came time to chose people to dance with, the Prince went to a lady that appeared to be in her 40's with Down Syndrome. When she stood up, she bowed to him, and they danced, and then at the end she bowed a few more times with such sincerity. It was so very sweet and special, and DH and I both were crying watching. It was the magic of Disney at it's best.:cloud9:

Lady Tremain - she was okay. We had met a different one last year, and she was much more amusing. Although, she did have the girls hold their hands together so they wouldn't touch her, and when DD2 said "Is that the stepmother?" She said "I have a name, child." It was funny.
P1040581.jpg

The stepsisters were a lot of fun, and really interacted with the girls, fixing hairbows, trying on her hairbow. They were LOUD and wild. DD1 had fun dancing with Anastasia!

P1040585.jpg

P1040586.jpg

P1040587.jpg

P1040589.jpg

All in all, not a bad time! Since, for us, the main objective was for DD2 to meet the Prince, and that flopped so badly,, we left, again, saying "This is not a must do." Honestly, if in a few years the kids want to go back, we might. And I can see them wanting to be with the stepsisters again, but not for Cindy!

Thanks for another wonderful update. I have been truelly enjoying your report. 1900 Park Fare is once time for us too b/c my son didn't eat anything there except bread. There was a magical moment, I was getting myself food and when I got back to the table I asked my husband where was our 3yr son...he said Cinderrella came to the table and asked him to dance with her I was so shocked b/c my son is sooooo shy that he actually went to her w/o me saying ok. It was a beautiful moment but my husband was so ahhh:cloud9 during the whole time that he forgot to video tape and luckily I was there at the end that I was able to take a few pictures. It was a magical moment and my son still talks about the private dance that he was chosen my Cinderella and Prince Charming afterwards and asked my son how was the dance, etc. He was so talkative with Prince (I was so shock). It funny how we think how are child would react but then would surprise us in so many ways. My son is still shy but when he goes to Disney he is a different child.

Don't change it, you won't regret it! It really is an amazing dinner!

That really does sound like a magical moment, thanks for sharing!

I agree that the step sisters make 1900PF special. They are a fun pair. Ididn't realize that Akesaurus had Cinderella. I always thought it was a bunch of other princesses..Hmmmm...that may change things for us next visit. Loving your review btw. :thumbsup2

Thanks! Our Akershus breakfast will actually be my next update, so stay tuned! Although, I understand that who you have will change at any given time!

I am having fun reading your reviews, and your girls are so cute!

Thanks on both accounts!

Just found your great reviews- thanks for posting. We are trying DXDP for first time this year - always think DXDP seems too much food and yet when paying for ddp found that we still paid oop for many other ts meals.

Your daughters look beautiful especially in their matching green dresses.

Thanks! There are definitely times it feels like too much food, and sometimes the food starts to run together. But there are soooo many places to try, and the girls love the character meals!

So, we as usual this week, roll the kids out of bed for another early breakfast. We know the importance of early mornings in the Florida summers!

We got there right on time for our 8:25 ADR. I would have preferred an 8:00, but by the time we decided to add DXDP and this meal, I was glad to have gotten this one! We checked in and were seated immediately after taking the picture with Belle. These pictures are not the time for quality character interaction, I must say. But she was sweet!

P1040673.jpg

We were seating in the main dining area. It does feel like a castle in there, versus the side room we were in last year.

P1040674.jpg

P1040675.jpg

We had the BEST waitress of our trip here. She was sooo sweet, her name was Stine. She told us that she only has a little over a month left here before she has to go back, and it is maybe 13 months after that before she can apply to come back. She really doesn't want to go back to Norway!

P1040691.jpg

Again, no real food pictures due to the characters! There is a buffet you can start with, there are a lot of "safe foods" there such as bagels, ligonberry muffins, which are delish!!!!! I wish I could have one right now with my coffee! Yogurt, croissants, cheese cubes (Muenster and another) and fruit! There was a section of cold meats, fishes, etc. That is NOT in my comfort zone. DH had tried it last year, not in his either! The girls loved the butter pats shaped like raspberries!

P1040690.jpg

They bring a plate to the table with eggs, bacon, sausage, and the best potato dish in WDW, a cheesy potato casserole. It's worth the trip just for these potatoes. Oh so very yummy!!!!

The princesses there were: Aurora

P1040677.jpg

Snow White:

P1040678.jpg

DD2's favorite - Ariel. Once DD told her she was her favorite princess, she stopped and really interacted and spent time with her. It was sweet!

P1040682.jpg

P1040684.jpg

Then came Cinderella.
P1040688.jpg

DD1 asked Cinderella where Jaq and Gus were this morning. She has learned to get better interaction, you have to talk to the characters. Well, Cinderella told her they were at home, but probably getting hungry. She stated she should take them some cheese. Well, DD2 picks up a square of her Muenster cheese of her plate, puts it in Cinderella's hand and says "give this to Gus from me". :lmao: Poor Cindy. She was very elegant and gives DD a big hug and said "I am going to take this in the back and have them put it in a box for him". She of course, had to leave the dining room to "box up the cheese". ;) I wonder if she put on new gloves?

We had a great time here. Honestly, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White kinda rushed by, but Ariel and Cinderella were great. This is on our list of must-dos, at least as long as our girls love the princesses. A great way to start a day at Epcot!!!!

One reason the DxDP works for us, mostly, is that our girls don't eat a lot at one time. Like most kids, they graze, then they are hungry again soon after. We used snack credits today to keep them full!

France- they split a chocolate crepe from the crepe cart. It was basically a crepe with chocolate syrup poured over it. DH and I shared a water. Not hungry!

Japan - We all got Kaki Goris. DD1 got the rainbow, DD2 got the honeydew melon, which was VERY GREEN! She liked it, though. DH and I split a red one, don't remember the flavor, something berry. They were good. The girls remembered these from last year, and couldn't wait!

African outpost - DD2 got a frozen lemonade. DD1 was holding out for another popcorn cart!

Norway - Ahhh.. the Kringla bakery. Oh sooo many decadent and huge choices! It was hard to pick! DH and I split the almond pretzel, which was huge! DD1 shared with us also! It was good, not too sweet. We also split a berry creme puff. It was definitely big enough for two. The cream was not sweet, so it wasn't overpowering at all. He took the top half, I took the bottom! I want to say the girls got a chocolate chip cookie or something to share, but I am not really sure. We also all got waters again!

Somewhere along the way, DD did get her popcorn!

Have I mentioned how much DH loves Ohana? :lmao: Well, since I have already reviewed it once, I won't take a lot of time. The food was still delicious, the service was not as spectacular, but still good. Gabe was our waiter this time.

We didn't linger as long this time, and were surprisingly finished in just over an hour! "Lei lady" still did her thing, but maybe not as long, plus no Father's Day thing. There was a couple getting married in the Wedding Pavilion the next morning, and they were having their rehearsal dinner. They got to lead the "parade" around the restaurant, and were given golden maracas to take home, we all toasted them. I thought that was just very cool. I hope one of my DDs, if not both, want to get married at WDW, Ohana would be a cool place for a rehearsal dinner!
