Are you really sure we want to do this again? DXDP- 7/5 Chef M's, CRT , and WCC

Well, after riding ALMOST everything in Tomorrowland, we were ready for a cool place to sit. Not super hungry, but wanted a little something.

DH ordered unsweet tea, and a salad for his app.

P1040249.jpg

He said the salad was okay, he's not big on salad.

For his entree, he ordered the cheese steak. Again, he said it was just okay.

P1040250.jpg

And for his dessert, he got cheese cake. He liked this, it's his favorite dessert of all time.

P1040256.jpg

I did not get an app, but I did get the long awaited chicken strawberry salad. IT was huge, I could only eat about half of it. It was very tasty, but it had a bit too much dressing on it for my liking, especially near the bottom. I would definitely order it again, though!

P1040253.jpg

And for my dessert? Brownie sundae. Seriously. When this thing came out, people all around us pointed and their eyes popped out. Pooh AND his friends could not finish this monster. I'm not sure who could. The picture DOES NOT do it justice!

P1040257.jpg

DD1 got a tossed salad also, for an app. She loved it, b/c she loves salad. For her entree, she got the grilled chicken sandwich. It had ham and swiss on it, and she took that off. The fries were really good, I had one!

P1040252.jpg

For her dessert, she ordered a vanilla Mickeylodeon. She didn't want it, didn't eat it.

P1040254.jpg

DD2 got the kids meal grilled cheese, with grapes. She ate most of the sandwich, and some of the grapes. They were really good grapes!

P1040251.jpg

And for her dessert, she got a chocolate Mickeylodeon. She ate a bit of it, but it was a huge "vase" of ice cream and she couldn't keep up!

P1040255.jpg

As you can see from the pictures, it was really dark in here. They were doing some work, and had tarps over the windows.

All in all, it was an okay meal. DH and DD said they didn't care if we ever went back or not, it would be up to me. I would like the salad again, and the brownie sundae is worth a trip, to be split between the four of us.

We had a theme for the week: the disappearing waitress. Her name was Eve, and she rarely checked on us, refilled drinks, etc. We were really thirsty, so this was not a good thing.

The cost OOP w/ tax would have been $78.59. We would NEVER pay that for what we ate IRL, but at Disney, it is a relatively inexpensive meal.

DH loves Ohana, and requested this meal for his Father's Day dinner, and at least one more time afterwards. It was a bit sad for me, as I lost my Daddy in September, so my view of the meal was a bit skewed.

Our ADR was for 5:00, and we weren't seated until 5:30. We did get a WONDERFUL table by the windows with a great castle view. Pic is zoomed in a bit, but it was beautiful! Simo was our waiter, and he was FANTASTIC!

We had the welcome bread, which is really, really good. I started with a lapu lapu, my favorite!!!

First they brought the dipping sauces: the peanut one is our favorite, and we actually got the recipe!

Then the salad. I forgot to get a picture of the bowl, but here is some on the plate.

Then the pork pot stickers, or I think they called them dumplings, which I absolutely LOVE!!! They are drizzeled with pineapple sweet and sour cauce, which is one of the dipping sauces on the table. They also brought the honey coriander chicken wings. I think they are okay, but DH loves them. DD2 ate one or two of them, also.

P1040278.jpg

Then came the noodles and broccoli. DD2 was the only one that ate the noodles, DD1 won't touch them, and DH and I knew more was to come! But I did eat some broccoli.

P1040279.jpg

Here is a picture of skewers waiting to be served:

P1040272.jpg

Pork: not the best. I thought it was tough. DH had a few "chunks", I had one bite of one, but this was my least favorite.
Chicken: definitely yummy and tender!
Shrimp: peel and eat and HUGE! This is DD1's favorite WDW food! For a girl that eats next to nothing, I think she ate about 15 or 20 shrimp. Here is a picture of the welcome bread plate with her peelings to prove it!

Steak: The best! DD2, DH, and I all ate our money's worth of this!

The dessert bread pudding is simply yummy! I love, love, love it!

This was one of the best meals we had at WDW. It is a true family favorite, and we will go back, probably twice, each year. Simu was a GREAT waiter, the "lei lady" was a lot of fun, and the kids had a blast. We were there for 2 hours!!!! But it was a relaxing way to end our first day at WDW!!!

I didn't save the receipt that told the total of the meal, but the lapu lapu was $12.75!!!!

Great start and early start too 6am start ?! yikes. Actually we're flying out on our trip at 6am which really means up at 3am to drive to the airport etc etc etc

The cinnimon rolls look good!

We left home around 7pm, and arrived at WDW at 6am! DH slept all day Saturday, so he was good to go! We actually couldn't "check in" until 7, b/c the computers don't roll over to add the dining plan until then. But we made it for rope drop, which was my plan!

That's a giant "Cinnamon roll". I really want to have one (ok!, maybe just 1/2) right now!!

It is huge!! We actually got another one to bring home yesterday, and it's in a box. It feels like a rock is in my stomach, so I don't even want it! It's 4 inches square and 2.5 inches tall!!!!

Yay! You started your reviews! We do the DxDDP every time we go. For our upcoming trip in December I vowed not to do it again but we love the food at Disney so with all the ADRs I have I think we have to do it to at least save us some money :confused3

Looking forward to reading more of your reviews!

Yay! You're back! Good job on the reviews so far. I think we definitely need to make a stop at Main Street bakery this year!

Can't wait till you start your tr too!

Okay you've sold me on Ohana's. I've been on the fence about it but DH really wanted to go there. Now I'm excited too.

It's hard, I know. We vow by the end of every week that it is just tooo much, and yet, here we are again! For us, our DD's will outgrow the character meals all too soon, so we kind of feel obligated to do it now.

Great review!! :upsidedow

Thanks! And welcome!

I have, I just haven't linked it in my signature yet. If you want to look for it, it's called something like welcome home to zip a dee doo dah days. Thanks for joining in!!! And the Bakery is on our must do list every year. We'll visit it again later in the week....

Welcome!!!

Great review so far! Can't wait for more.

Hope I can get day 2 done tomorrow! If I don't do it quickly, I will forget!

Okay you've sold me on Ohana's. I've been on the fence about it but DH really wanted to go there. Now I'm excited too.

You won't regret it. Last year, DH called it the "place with the skewers". Part of the deal with buying DVC was the DH gets 2 trips to Ohana every year. It is sooo good, but it truly is not a place for vegetarians. The ambiance, "entertainment"... everything. And if you like alcohol, you gotta try a lapu lapu. I only drink a few times a year, and lapu lapus are on the list! I wish I'd asked for the recipe for that, too! ;)

Joining in. Awesome review so far and can't wait to read morepopcorn::

Thanks for joining in!!!

My stomach is still over full from all the food, so I am drinking coffee...it seems to help. I may be up half the night, so more may be coming sooner than I had planned!

Just went back and read your reviews. Ohana looked great! I'm planning for dinner there when we return with our three year-old son. I think he'll love it; he's a huge fan of dumplings and anything involving noodles and/or dipping sauce. :lmao:

Great reviews, keep them coming!popcorn::

Thanks! Glad you are enjoying them!!

Our 3 year old definitely loved it, and they have coconut broom races, limbo, etc. to keep them entertained. It is a bit of a long meal, I think we were in there for almost 2 hours from our check in time. But it is worth it!

Can't wait to see the rest of your reviews. Congrats on not drinking soda anymore... I have done the same (16months of "NO" soda for me).

We crashed right after watching fireworks from the balcony, and were up bright and early to be at Kona at 7:30 the next morning. We were hoping to be finished in time for rope drop at MK at 9, which we were.

We arrived a few minutes early via monorail, and there were only 2 other parties there. It really is a great place for a quiet, non-character breakfast.

We all got the likiloi, whatever you want to call it, juice. It is served here, Ohana breakfast, and Tusker House breakfast, and we all love it. I think it is Pineapple, orange, and guava or grapefruit. Whatever it is, it is delicious! The girls got hot chocolate as their second beverage, they were always cold first thing in the morning, and I had a simply perfect pressed pot of Kona coffee. This counts as 2 beverages, so it DH and I shared as our second beverage. He's not a huge coffee drinker, but even he admitted it was good!

P1040292.jpg

P1040293.jpg

For our meals:

DH got the steak and eggs. He said the steak was of the quality you would get for a dinner steak, very filling and good.

P1040294.jpg

I got the Big Kahuna. I really just wanted the pineapple macademia pancakes, which come on it, but I knew the girls would want more bacon than what was on their plates, and DH wanted to try the French toast. The pancakes were everything I was hoping they would be!!!! :lovestruc

P1040297.jpg

I did give the girls my bacon. All the WDW bacon is very thin. My girls LOVE bacon, it is one of the few things DD1 will consistently eat. Even though it is horrible for you! I tasted the eggs and potatoes, and they were pretty good. DH said the french toast was good, but nothing spectacular.

DD1 got blueberry pancakes. I think she ate 3 bites, her bacon, and mine. I tasted them, and they were good. She doesn't like blueberries in her pancakes, but she wanted to give it a try since she didn't see plain pancakes on the adult menu. That was a pain all week, she is 10, so she wanted to get the adult stuff most of the time, but then she wouldn't eat it. But I am proud of her for trying it!

P1040295.jpg

DD1 got the Mickey pancakes, which were just 3 pancakes arranged as a Mickey head. She ate about all of one of them, her bacon, and some of my eggs.

P1040296.jpg

We all agreed that this was a great breakfast. DD1 was pleased, even if it was just with the juice, hot chocolate, and bacon. The meal would have been $69.25, and we will be coming back. It was a great way to start the day. I will add that Nikola, our waitress, followed in the disappearing act of her predecessors. DH wants his glasses kept full, and she didn't really do that well. Also, we saw someone order fruit as their entree, and it came in a half of a pineapple, stuffed completely full!!!! I thought it looked absolutely scrumptious!!

Can't wait to see the rest of your reviews. Congrats on not drinking soda anymore... I have done the same (16months of "NO" soda for me).

Thanks! I wasn't even tempted at WDW by them, other than a few sips of ginger ale to ease my tummy one night. I did have unsweetened tea several times just for a caffeine boost, though! ;) Thanks for joining in, and congrats on 16 months of no soda!

Just to keep things flowing....

DH and I didn't get hungry during the day, but we did all get hot. No lunch was planned for today, so we used some more snack credits.

Girls each had a frozen lemonade in toontown, and we all shared 2 bottles of smart water.

After touring Adventureland, DD1 was hungry after relatively no breakfast, and had her first of several popcorn boxes for the week.

DD2 wanted to try a Itzakadoozie after seeing someone with it, so she got that.

DH and I shared a Dole Whip pineapple pineapple float for the first time, and OH MY. They are all that!! I could go for one now, that's about the only thing that sounds good!

So we now have 36 snack credits remaining. Up next: dinner at Boma!
