Are you going to be at the D23 Expo? (September 2009) - UPDATE on Post #1

Is anyone planning time in Disneyland or Disney's California Adventure on 9/9 or on the evenings of the Expo? I will be in Disneyland on Wednesday, 9/9, and I noticed that the parks are open until 8:00pm each evening of the Expo. Is there interest for a small DIS meet on 9/9?

We will be having dinner at the resorts/parks and going to the parks for rides, fireworks, etc. in the evenings.

Bob Iger on 9/10? I know the Legends starts an hour after, but wasn't sure if Bob will speak the full hour or not.

EDIT: Never mind, just saw the schedule has been updates slightly, and it says he will talk the full hour.

Hi, I'm lining up to be sure I get the limited items from the Dream Store (pins and vinyls). There are several people who can't come to the expo for various reasons so a few of us are buying for them so they don't have to pay outrageous prices on ebay.

If there's no interest in those items then no need to get there early, for sure.

I wonder when the Dream Store opens? The Archives collection will not open until 12pm on Thursday and that is where the Archives catalog/book is being sold. I want that. The Soft cover is LE 1,000 and $25. I want to see the Legends Ceremony too though. And I want to get the D23 Vinylmation. Are they LE? Oh boy! Lots of overlapping things I guess if we don't get into one we will have backups! A lot of talks are running longer than I first thought they would. Like The Music of The Haunted Mansion. It runs from 3:30pm-5pm so it overlaps the Afternoon With Imagineering Legends (4:30pm-6:30pm.) Now I have to choose!

In the announcement of the Legend event it says: "No photography, filming or other recording will be permitted during Bob Iger's presentation and the Disney Legends Ceremony. In order for us to present our guests with the most current and exclusive look at what's happening at The Walt Disney Company and to provide some extra surprises, we must ask that there be no cameras or any recording equipment in the Arena during these events. A camera check will be available."

Anyone thinking of skipping the Iger talk/legends presentation rather than having to check their camera equipped cell phone? -- Suzanne

Hmmmm. For the D23 Vinylmation it says:

"This limited release VinylmationTM stands at 3" and will be packaged in a D23|expo tin with lid."

So not LE but LR. I wonder if that means it will only be sold at the Expo but there will be plenty? Also is it 1 LE item per guest per day? Meaning 1 pin, 1 t-shirt, 1 whatever each.

www.vinylnation.net says $14.95 and he comes in a tin. There will be aprox. 4800 made so hopefully I can get 2.

They also say:

"The 3" vinyl is a D23 member exclusive (or at least that is what the product developer said) and will require the membership card to purchase. The 9" I believe is exclusive to the Expo, not members only."

just thought i'd throw in this little tidbit since I'm able to report on a lot more of the D23 goings on than.. well.. D23 is.

I don't know the full details on Bob Iger's presentation, and while I'm sure he could spend a good 45 minutes+ talking about subscriptions alone, he definitely won't be talking for the full amount. According to my source (which confirmed Nic Cage days before D23 did), Anika Noni Rose will actually be performing a song from the Princess and the Frog during his presentation.

and now after I stuck my foot in my mouth, I was reading some of the D23 Expo guide on the train this morning and there will actually be a 30 minute preview of The Princess and the Frog during Bob Iger's presentation. so he's probably down to 15-20 mins of talking at most.

Hi,
I just listened to this week's podcasts and no mention of D23 expo. Is there any plan for one of Dis Unplugged DL correspondents to go and/or provide a blog on the expo? This is a first in Disney history so am surprised to not being hearing anything about a trip report.

Did I miss a mention somewhere? Thanks.
