Are you friendly with your Doctors?

DH has a couple of patients who bring him veggies from their garden. He has been given homemade goods (salsa, cookies, etc.). And yesterday he brought home a blanket that a patient crocheted (sp) for DS. He said she is making a one for DD. When DD was born we received a lot of gifts from patients also.

My DH has one of those personalities that people are just drawn to. He can get along with pretty much anyone. People like him so they want to give him things???

Do you give things to your Doctor?

No, I've never given my doctor(s) anything. But I do notice, in one of my doctor's offices, he has lots of homemade jellies and "things" sitting on his desk that I can tell are from patients.

I LOVE our pediatrician! I took his office some cookies once after DD had Henoch-Schönlein purpura and we were there every few days for a few weeks. I have never noticed things, except at the holidays.

No, we haven't given anything to our doctors, but we are friendly with them. My Dr lives not far from us, our kids are in the same school, similar activities, etc. so we see each other socially quite a bit. The husband of the kids' dr, who is moving , worked for DH, so we would often see them at work functions.

I like when I have a relationship with my doctor that goes beyond the professional one. That doesn't always happen, but it's nice when it does. Our primary doctor (internist) is my ex-husband's cousin, and someone I've known all my life. DD's pediatrician is the father of one of my husband's best friends. And my OB is a longtime social acquaintence.

I wouldn't go to a doctor just because I knew them personally, if I didn't feel like they were the best professional to consult. But if I do know them at another level,I like that it gives the medical relationship more of a personal connection.

My mom, DD, and I have the same doctor. She's a wonderful woman, a great doctor, and we all really like her. My mom always takes in stuff at Christmas like homemade caramels and candy and also takes in some of the stuff she's canned.

One thing I like about having the same dr as my mom is that, while she would never break confidentiality and tell me anything about my mom's health, she always asks me if I have any concerns about my mom's health that she should know about. Particularly after my dad passed away, she'd ask how Mom was handling it, etc.

I came close to hugging my doctor when he found a medicine that worked for me.

I am very friendly with my drs. but I have not yet given them anything except payment, of course.!

We don't bring things to our Dr's, but my DH is a drug rep and he has great relationships with the Dr's in his territory so we have taken them out to dinner etc..its really nice cause they know us and know the baby (okay she is 3)

Once I got yelled at by my ob across a very nice resturaunt "WHEN ARE YOU HAVING THE SECOND ONE?"

I am not friendly with the Drs but I really really like the front desk lady at our pediatricians office. I even took her a birthday card when I knew that her birthday was the same day as DS's 9 month visit. She has called me for advice on Vegas. Whenever I call for an appt. she ALWAYS gets us in when its convenient for us. She ALWAYS gives me the 4:00 appts even though offically they dont take appts past 3:30. I know she's nice to everyone but I feel we have a special connection. She has even given me teething advice that could get her fired if her bosses found out about it.

I will definately be taking her something for Christmas.
