As I mentioned on one of the other threads - today is 'Bake Day' for me. I really enjoy cooking (the fun kind, not the 'what's for dinner' kind, hehehe), however I don't get much opportunity due to time and plus the fact that it's only me and my bloke Simon to cook for! (Though I do belong to a Bake Club at work where we all take turns to make something every 6 weeks or so which is fun
)
Yesterday I made a Stollen - it's a Brunch recipe from Palo on the Disney Magic - it's a bit different from a regular Stollen in that there's no fruit in it! It tasted ok - just not the same as it was supposed to taste though, LOL. Next time I hope to perfect the technique a bit better though
Today I plan to make Sausage Rolls - I bought some nicer sausages and split them open rather than buying that ready made sausage meat you get and mixed in some finely chopped onion. I did cheat and buy the ready made pastry though
Then I'm making Bailey's Truffles, basically just a big bar of Dairy Milk melted in hot Double cream and Bailey's and then roll into balls and dust with cocoa - mmmmmmmmmmmm, better than Quality Street any day!
Then I'll be making the mix for some Corn Bread (you have no idea how much trouble it took me to find Cornmeal
) and home made Apple Butter for my 'taste of the States' hehehe. Plus the mix for some Banana Bread - that way tomorrow I can just pop them in the oven for some nice fresh appetizer bread, I even bought some cute little mini bread tins so I can make little Banana loaves like on DCL - what a saddo!
So, who else is cooking up some munchies especially for the Christmas season?
