Are you a secret snob?

It feels like High School all over again. I have a feeling if any of you met me I would be in the "trashy" column. Nothing above do I ever give too much thought to.

:p so I guess that makes me a snob about snobs??

But hey wer're happy. :teeth:

At first I was shocked to see there were so many people on the DIS calling themselves snobs but then I realized many of you are using a different definition for the word snob than I am. I think of a snob as someone who looks down on others for their choice of "purses, shoes, clothes, decorations, food, etc." but it sounds like most of you are just saying that you refuse to use certain products/services or will only use certain ones exclusively. I see a difference there and one type of snob seems like small mindedness (sp?) and the other type just seems like someone that has found something they like and they are sticking to it (not truely a snob by my definition and if it is being a snob then I don't think that type of 'snobiness' is bad).

Personally I don't consider myself a snob but I do think less of people that I feel don't have good character. Things like someone that will not work and let their children go hungry, or people that don't exercise common kindness to others when they can, people that lie or cheat because of some preceived benefit they get from doing those things, ect. But I never think less of someone else because of their purse, clothes, food choices, or because they shop at wal-mart. And I think that a lot of you guys probably feel the same way.

Another shampoo snob here. I swear by Biolage products.

Mayo snob--I only use Hellemanns.

OOOooo, I forgot about Hellmann's. Add me to the mayo snobbery list. My aunt says salad dressing is the same, but she is just sooo wrong. It's very sad. :sad2:

I am not really a food snob though. My mom is a chef so I guess I should be but I'll eat anything LOL. My mom though is insane about food. If a cut of meat isn't in the double figure price range she thinks it's cheap. And everything has to be made from scratch or it's not good enough for her. I'm a rebel because I refuse to make my own pasta and bread.

Haircut snob. I'll pay $150 for an awesome cut/color, no problem. I have to wear my head every day, a haircut lasts 8 weeks, 56 days, under $3/day. That's worth it to me.

See, we're not so different! I'm going tonight to get my highlights done. It will cost me $175 and I think it's a bargain because she does such a good job. I don;t know what I'm going to do when we move to Arizona and I have to find another stylist. :(

Other things:

Clothes snob for my kids. I dislike cheap clothes that shrinks, fades, pills and falls apart after a few washings.

Hotel snob. Wouldn't stay in a value resort either.

Paper towel snob- I HAVE to have the expensive cloth like Viva paper towels. Good news is that I'm mindful of conserving because they are so pricey.

I'm sure there's more. :D

::yes::
I'm very snobbish about how my kids look. Neither of my boys even owns a pair of sweatpants. If we're going out to shop, dinner, whatever, the least casual thing they'll wear is jeans. They will not go out of the house w/ bedhead! I'm famous for checking their fingernails before we go out & cleaning under them before we go if necessary.

Let's see . . .

toilet paper snob---has to be Charmin

shoe snob

children's clothes snob

camera snob---I always want the latest and greatest

resort snob---value resorts = ICK!!!

Wow! I had no idea I was such a snob :)

I guess you can add me to the lists of "snobs." LOL

TP snob - Charmin only!
Underwear snob - Victoria's Secret only
Mayo snob - Hellmans only
Home decor snob - Do not pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a house and then put ratty furniture/decor in it!
Hotel snob - there are some hotels I just refuse to stay in

I think that's about it! :D

Dang. I can't think of a thing I'm a snob about nowadays. But I'm sure there is something...

Oh! Milk. I will only drink Mayfield's milk. If there is no Mayfield's there then I'll go without.

Absolutely the only thing I'm a snob about is music. I can't believe some of the music people like. And I have to say my opinion of some people changes based on what music they like. I wish I could change but I just don't see that happening. *sigh*

I used to be a snob about my daughter's clothing. But I had an epiphany one day and it ended, quick as that. I think it must have had something to do with the $1000 bill from my Gymboree Visa card, but I can't be certain. :p Now I just put what I like on her and don't worry about the brand. I no longer have to buy every piece from every gymbo line. I no longer pack her closet so full she can't possibly wear any of it more than once in a season. I have been cured. Alleluia!

I am a Disney snob. I love WDW. I have been too Universal and IOA...don't care for either. I like WDW, I like to stay on property, I like to talk to the nice happy CMs, I like my shampoo in a Mickey bottle, I like the smell of the Disney air, I like the music, I like the "ahhh" feeling I get when I am there, standing on the BW, looking at the water, i like "Wishes", I like the monorail.

I am a Disney snob.

Hadn't thought of that one. We really don't care for Universal and don't go back. We can do an entire vacation and happily never leave the WDW property - over and over -

Might even say we are OKW snobs (that's a whole different thread though..... :p )

ITA! I'm kind of surprised at some of the stuff I read on this thread, I honestly don't think about most of it. However, I think it's great we live in a country where we can be snobs about mayo and Walmart clothes. To each their own!

But don't even think of subjecting me to that Celine Dion CD or we're going to have a problem. :hyper:

I'm a mall snob. I don't like to look like I just walked out of Limited or Gap or anywhere like that. I like little boutiques with things no one else has. I teach in a high school and have a horror of matching one of my students!;)

Oh - also a cosmetics snob. I just can't buy make-up anywhere but a department store.

Oh my! Recently my DD said "mom, you are such a snob", I was insulted and shot back "I am not a snob"...well after reading this post..I am a snob!

Clothing = Never, ever would even think about buying clothes at Target or K-Mart and I have never stepped foot in a Wal-mart.
Detergent = Tide, and only Tide
Handbags
Shoes
Hair = $175 is the least I could spend to look like a decent human being.
Mayo = Only Helmann's
Meat = Only from a butcher shop, never from the supermarket, it's just the way I was raised.
Rude people = cannot tolerate them
Cleanlines = If your home is dirty, I mean more than just needing a picking up and dusting, if it smells like wet dog, has food stains on the table, etc, please don't invite me in, I won't sit down and will not eat or drink anything (even if you are my sister).
Hotels= A value resort?! why not a sleeping bag in a parking lot!
Disney=Never been to Universal, have no desire to go.

:sad2: I think I need help...

I have issues! ::yes::

A Mac Make-up snob: love the lip glass

A Disney snob: most definitely

A camping snob: my idea of roughing it, is a hotel without room service!

A Ralph Lauren clothes snob: love his collections

A pillow snob: only foam will do

A vodka snob: Grey Goose, Belvedere
