Are you a Commando or a Savor the Magic Visitor?

So with all of my planning, I am afraid that I may be turning into a commando type visitor of Disneyland where I run from ride to ride and focus more on maximizing ride time than the beauty and magic of Disney. I love the magic, and I don't want to overlook it, but I also hate long lines. DH and I are going next week, so it's past the slow season. Is there middle ground? Which type are you?

I'm a savor the magic visitor. While I do have a list of which rides I want to go on, I also enjoy taking my time and looking at everything. One of my favorite things to do is sit on Main Street and just take it all in. :goodvibes

I would say I am a little in between. I love to go on rides with my kids, but I also love to stop and look at everything, sit and enjoy some ice cream, etc. We try to do everything, but also understand we may not have time, and we do not stress about making sure we get one last drop on Splash!!

Have a great trip!!

I will definitely be savoring the magic of the food! Ice cream, dole whips, possibly a tigger tail, asparagus and bacon skewers, Cafe Orleans, Blue Bayou... and on and on... at least I won't forget the tastes and smells of our trip!

We are commando from park opening until about lunch time... then it is nap time, and we do more savoring in the afternoons and evenings (except this last trip when we did EP and then ran to the castle for fireworks--that was pretty commando)... we definitely slow down and go with the flow in the afternoon--even dd got into the "let's go on this ride next--unless there is a line"... so she was pretty go with the flow too...

We are usually commando for the first half of the day, and then we slow down and savor the experience as the day progresses. But as the days go on, we're less and less commando, since we've ususally accomplished so much.
Plus, we have APs, so we know we'll be back. In fact, when we were there in April, I think we only went on about 6 rides in 2 days, and we still had a great time!

I'm usually a Commando, but this year I'm going to try to savor the magic (PS in the parks, Photopass and penny pressing--maybe even some pin trading).

I'm the commando of our group. I collect fast passes and direct the general touring order(no plan just know what rides to hit at what times), I always know to the minute when I can grab the next FP. So I spend a lot of time running around in the mornings. However this allows the rest of the family to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds since we don't have to rush to every ride.

I like to savor the magic :) But we hardly make full day trips, usually just after work. The one time I did go for a full day, I just showed up and went to what I felt like with no planning. I liked just going about without stressing about when to go back for the fast pass, etc.

In Disneyland I tend to savor the experience. I enjoy walking down Main Street and looking at the window displays for the Emporium. NOS is another great place to just soak up the atmosphere. I ate lunch one time in the courtyard of the French Market and just enjoyed the band playing and performing not far from where I ate.

Just returned from Disneyland on Saturday and this was definitely a savor the magic trip. In the park for an entire day by myself. Taking the time to slow down and see the details and watch the magic around me made my day. Sure it is hard to do with a group or big family, but I always try and take some time for me. Usually it is a ride I skip while the others are in a long line. Taking the time to slow down and just get some time to savor the details and just how well they do the show of Disneyland just adds to the experience.

I usually savor and just go with the flow...but we did early entry last year and rode and rode and rode and about 1030 we were wiped out...of coarse we were dragging a 15 month old around with us! but this year we will be trying to do whatever we can in the morning and then take it easy in the afternoon~the kids decided what they wanted to ride and we went with that~plus since we will be going with the older kids this time, I'm sure we will be going and going and going!!!!!:cool1:

Commando, no doubt about it. With 3 teenagers in the family, we go from ride to ride as quickly as possible. I may be the fastpass runner, but they know as well as I do when it is time to get the next one. We may stop and watch something as we move along our way (or eat some ice cream or a churro), but there are not many downtimes. For us, the magic is in the attractions, not the general atmosphere.

My group always savors the magic. We are usually in the parks for 3 whole days and end up doing everything at lest once. We usually just walk and when we see something with a short line we jump on it. I think it's too stressful to follow an itinerary, at least it is for me, because if something went wrong then I'd get all moody. I say it's best to take it slow and enjoy everything or it's just going to whiz right by you.

A little of both. I had definite goals each day and worked on meeting them, but then slowed down. We definitely savored the moments on our last day in the parks. We'd done most everything we wanted and really enjoyed the sights and sounds at DL.

Savor the magic. We used to be real commando, but now that we have APs, if we didn't go on or see something we know we'll be back..::yes::

Hi
For the last few trips we tend to be less comando .....I feel we loose the fun in things if we run , run , run ....we try to do the rides we love and are a '' must '' to us otherwise we take them like they come ....
We found our trips more enjoyable like that.

I definitely savor the magic. However, my hubby and three boys are all about commando. They do all the big thrill rides and I don't, so I push my daughter in the stroller and we go "savor" the park while they do their thing. I could sit on Main Street all day long and just take in the atmosphere. I'm usually the spot saver for all parades also since just sitting and watching is my thing...:cloud9:

I would say our approach is middle ground. I like RideMax & don't like to wait in lines, but I never actually follow a specific schedule. I just use RideMax for informational purposes.

I've found that trying to stick to an actual itinerary makes my trip more stressful.

However, there are quite a few things I want to get done during our next trip, so I hope I can still savor the Magic! :wizard:
