Our plane arrives at 11 a.m. We had planned on going to MGM after we checked into our resort. Are we crazy for trying to go to a park on our first partial day there?? I was going to change our plans but the rest of the family wants to try it anyway.

We usually do a park on our arrival day (as long as we're there early enough). MGM is definitely a good 1/2 day park.

We always do a park on our arrival day. Now, I'm not sure that you would have time to do all of MGM on that day.

MGM is a 1/2 day park for us, too. It sounds like you will have a good amount of time to visit the park on your arrival day. We are driving in to Orlando on our next trip, and we plan on doing MGM on our arrival day- we plan on getting to the park around 3pm and staying through Fantasmic.

We are also doing MGM in 1/2 day. We should get there about 3:00. We have small kids and have already been on T&T and R&R. I don't think they want to sit through several shows. We plan to see Muppets 3D, the great movie ride and Little Mermaid, we have ADR's for 6:30. Depending on the time, maybe we'll catch the Lights motor action show. We'll also stay through fantasmic (we got the dinner package).

We may pick up FP for T&T or R&R. Not sure yet.

OK, I will be the lone person that disagrees. If your plane arrives around 11:00, by the time you get to and check in at your resort it will be about 1pm (at the earliest...get luggage/or wait on ME bus, travel, etc.).

If you will do MGM only one day, I would do it on a full day. That being said, we usually only spend a half day there, BUT, we don't do a lot of "shows" like Beauty & the Beast or Little Mermaid and others that have specific start times. We are there for RnRC, TOT and Fantasmic!, with occasionally some shopping and a few other things. Also, our half day is usally in the am. (and go back in the afternoon where we book the Fantasmic! dinner pkg.)

If you are doing MGM on another day PLUS this half day, then I say go for it! Get some of the shows (Lights Motor Action comes to mind) done this day.

Have fun no matter what!

I agree with Cajun fan, but MGM is our favorite park.

we go to Epcot WS the day we fly in, go grab some food and drink, walk around WS and grab an early spot for Illumnations.

Arrival day my family and I always do a park but with the knowledge that we will return to that park later in our visit. I'm not into "commando Disney" anymore so we couldn't see any park in 1/2 day (except maybe AK which usually closes early). I take in a couple of shows especially "motor stunt show" and "Indiana Jones" and "fantasmic and I enjoy looking in the stores, throw in the rides and it's a full day park for us.

Have fun

MGM seems to be our "travel day" park. We don't always plan it this way, but it works out beautifully! We go to MGM on our arrival day and get to see/do almost everything. Just keep in mind that you won't be able to do absolutely everything. Then we always go back to MGM for a few hours in the morning on our last day - it's a great way to get in those last few things you missed the first time, and we always love starting & ending our trip in the same place.

HI June 11th 2005 we got to MGM , 12'30 PM :cool1: STILL HAD FP open , had a great afternoon :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We are decided to squeeze in a 1/2 day at Epcot. We only have 1 full day available to go to the parks and decided to squeeze in some time just for the chance to go to the park. It is all bonus time for us, and I am so excited! Just go with the thought that it is bonus time and relax and enjoy!

Here's what we got last week at MGM on a "half-day". We decided to sleep in late that day and arrived at MGM at around 1pm to spend the entire day until 11pm(after Fantasmic).

We arrived and I immediately went to get a FP for Tower of Terror (my DS6's favorite ride). I then met the rest of my family at the Streets of America.

We met the Power Rangers, Kim Possible & Ron Stopable, Monsters Inc, and the Cars (Lightening McQueen & Tow Mater)....did pictures, autographs, etc....then, I went grab another FP for Star Tours....then, we hit the 2:30pm show of Lights, Motors, Action.

After LMA, we went watch Muppets 3D. After that, we hit Star Tours on the Fast Pass....then, headed over to the other side of the park. We stopped for a quick bite at the Commisary...then, headed to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. After that, I grabbed a FP for Rock N Roller Coaster and then we caught the last show of Beauty & The Beast....then, headed back to Little Mermaid to catch that one.

Around this time...the first Fantasmic was starting up....so, we hit Tower of Terror with our FP's from earlier (return time was 2pm to 3pm...but, they still took the FP's). We then hit RNR Coaster with our other FP and noticed that the Stand-By line was short. We hit RNR again...then, went back to TOT for 2 more rides before hitting the 2nd Fantasmic show.

We hit everything we wanted to do...except we had to choose between doing Who Wants to Be a Millionaire / Beauty & The Beast or watching the parade at 5:30. We chose the shows and skipped the parade this time.

It will probably be a long day for you.....

Almost same situation plane landed at 11am, and was gonna do MGM for half-day. (last time we went my kids were 2,3,4 and half day was enough) By the time we got to our room and checked in it was about 1:30pm. We were still going to go to the park, but once my kids saw the pool. We decided not to go, take into consideration we flew from Omaha NE and our flight left at 6am so that means we were awake at 3:30am. I knew they were excited to get there and go but they would have broke down halfway through. So what I did instead was make reservations at Chef Mickey's for dinner and we got in bed early to prepare for our first full day. But back to MGM, when we did go we went early and planned on only a half day and stayed the whole time my kids loved it! Now the are 5,7,8 and did all the shows and most rides and Fantasmic. :Pinkbounc
