Are we Crazy-No Palo

We didn't go to Palo on our first cruise in 2002. But we just returned from the 7 night western and went to Palo twice; dinner and the champagne brunch. Both times were phenominal! Food was great! Atmosphere was relaxing, and fun at the same time. Service was over the top! Emanuel and "Elle" are the BEST!

If nothing else, it is something different to do, but really I consider it a treat. I especially enjoyed the chocolate souffle at dinner and everything at the brunch was superb, IMHO.

We are taking our 6th Disney Cruise this Christmas. We have done 4 -4 day, one 7 day and this one is the 10 day. We have gone to Palos every time and will not consider missing it. It is a wonderful experience and I could not imagine that even the pickiest eater would not find something they would like on the menu. We too love our servers in the regular rotation seating, but have met some wonderful people in Palos as well.

We didn't try it either. We had reservations, but our son wanted to stay with us so we cancelled. I hear it is excellent, but I don't feel we were deprived of anything by not going.

We're going on our first cruise with DCL and do not plan to visit Palo. My philosophy for this trip is sit back and enjoy and not to stress. I don't want to try and figure out in advance when I feel like making a dining change or cleaning up and going to a brunch. I have a tendency in my life to plan things way in advance and then not feel like doing it when the time comes. I am not saying that we will not visit Palo, but if we decide one afternoon that we would like to try it, we will just take our chance and see if they have any reservations or cancellations.

We did Palos using REAS on our 3-day cruise, missing Triton's our first night. We were seated alone in the dining room on our regular rotation, so we didn't miss any tablemates.

This is the only thing I am bound and determined to do again on our 4-day - IMHO the food was far and away better than what we had at the "regular" restaurants (except the grouper at PC was the most incredible fish I'd ever had), and we had a seat right at the window and just really enjoyed our private time together.

Next time, I'd like to miss AP and do Palos instead.

I'm glad I'm not the only one already worrying about this and going crazy a year in advance. :D We are doing the Land/Sea 4 night cruise too.

If you do the brunch at Palo's is it formal dress? Do you have to have ressies for this?

Dress: Resort Casual - slacks and a polo shirt:crazy:
Ressies: Yep::yes::

We are not going to eat at Palo's either. But I am the picky one
the menu does not appeal to me at all and I DO NOT want to
have to dress up either. We live in Dallas/FT. Worth area and have so many good places, I am not worried about missing it.
PLUS call me cheap, but I dont want to pay extra for a meal if
I do not care for the type of food. Even if everyone says it is a
must-do.

Every has their own taste, so it is okay to skip it.

have a great cruise.:sunny:

been on three cruises-never been to Palos. I have enjoyed the food on the other menus and dining with my children (4) without having to get up and get something for them

I don't have plans to dine at Palo's because I just think it would be more fun at the other three restaurants for dinner.
I only just found out that there's a tea and brunch, so that might be an option, since I won't have to give up a regular restuarant night. I think I'd want to do Palo just to say I did.

palo is not to be missed by anybody on a disney cruise. it was the most relaxing, pampering experience of our cruise. no matter what the choices were on the menu, we got to try it all because our servers, milan and ciao romano made it a point to do so. the finale, chocolate souffle is definitely a must.

Do the brunch!!!!!!!!!! The view is wonderful, food is great. You will get the feel of what Palo's is and can still enjoy the meals in the dining rooms at night.

I don't think you're crazy, but it was certainly a highlight of our cruise. The food blows away anything in the regular dining rooms, and the atmosphere -- especially for anyone with young kids who would give their left arm for an adult-only meal -- is amazing.

As far as missing your dinner rotation, we had second seating, so we had dinner at Palo's at 6, and then took our kids to the regular dinner. Dh and I did not eat, but we sat with the kids and enjoyed the regular dining room ambiance.

A lot of it has to do with what you want from the cruise. We met a LOT of couples at Palo's who had just dropped their infants/toddlers at Flounder's. Like us, they felt that a little adult time was glorious.

I know it has a great view and atmosphere, but we are looking at it like if our son does want to go with us to dinner we aren't telling him that he has to do something else. I read that reservation needed to be cancelled ahead of time or you'll still be charged.

It cost extra to eat there? How much pp?

We'll be on our 4th sailing on DCL Nov. 20th and we haven't been there yet................

We had dinner and brunch there on the three-day that became four day Wonder cruise, and felt the experience were highlights of the cruise. The desserts were fantanstic, particularly the chocolate souffle.

Of course, we have a toddler, so an adult meal feels like bliss. And we got on the boat later than we had planned, closer to 2, but they had plenty of openings in Palo.

The "ressie rush'' does seem overstated. We got all of our Flounders openings, too.

Hi JoePoe:wave2:
There is a $10.00 charge pp for Brunch and Dinner with no charge for High Tea.. Hope this helps..
