We are on the Deluxe Dining Plan and have thought about going to California Grill 2 times during our December trip. We ate at California Grill in 2008 and loved watching the fireworks from up there. Here's what we are considering :
We would go 1 night when the regular Wishes fireworks show would be. Then we'd go 5 nights later on a MVMCP night and get to see the Holiday Wishes. Have we totally lost our minds?

if you enjoy calf grill go for it. We love also loved it and wished we had did it twice instead of Narcoose.

can I ask what time you make your ADR to see the fireworks? I am going for the first time in November and have a 7:25 ADR

I used the DIS theme parks tab and got the fireworks schedule for December. On Dec 11 wishes will be at 10 pm. So dinner 9 pm. For the
16th, I googled MVMCP fireworks and looked at the schedule for 2008 and 2009 and saw fireworks are @ 9:30. So dinner at 7:20.

If that's what you like, then go for it! Of such decisions are special memories made.

We normally will visit one or two restaurants a second time during our 2-week trips. Since it's just once a year, it's not like we're going to get tired of them! :)

I would do it...we LOVE Cali Grill. We have only one ADR for our September trip (arrival night) but would gladly change out one of our other ADRs for a second ADR there, but DH wants to try "other" restaurants than our typical norms, minus our must dos that is and that is definitely one of our must do restaurants :goodvibes. Have a wonderful time there :thumbsup2

Not at all as long as you enjoy it, I have done two places the same day, to me better to be safe then sorry :thumbsup2

I'd go there whenever I could but I really don't have that much interest in the fireworks. If you like the food, go for it. If you're going just to see the fireworks, I'd say once is enough, personally, and I'd make it the Holiday Wishes. I would rather see the fireworks from inside the park if I had a ticket.

No you are not crazy, and if you are then we are too. :thumbsup2

We are doing the exact same thing for our trip in Sept. We are eating there the night we arrive then on Friday so we can watch MNSSHP fireworks then head to Epcot for EMH via the monorail.

We LOVE Cali Grill, it is one of our favorite places to eat down there so why not do it twice if you like it there...you gotta use those credits somehow :rotfl2:

My DHs coworker went 3 times in one week and I didn't think they were nuts. There are so many options and it's a great restaurant. Go for it if you want!

We loved California Grill in 2009 and we were NOT there for the fireworks... but the view at 5:30pm sunset from the observation points off CA grill were wonderful. If going twice, I'd make sure one was at sunset.

But, if you want to try something different, go to Citicos at the Grand Floridian. Very upscale food and service. And enjoy the GF lobby orchestra just outside the restaurant.

I would do Jiko twice, but not CG. The view is nice, but I can only take so much of the noise and movement everywhere.

They have a fairly big menu for a Sig restaurant, so I wouldn't worry about getting bored with the food. And it's good, too. Go for it!

Dh is really excited about eating there 2 times. I think it will be kinda neat bc we will be eating there our first and last nights.

We are eating there twice on our Sept trip (we have dlx dining too.) Once for my bday and then 3 days later. Our DD and DS picked it as well as DH to do twice. We loved it in Dec 2008 and really wanted to do it twice this trip. The rest of the family wasn't interested in Jiko or Narcoossees (which we tried last time and had ok meal).

So if you are crazy, so are we. :rotfl2: ENJOY!

Crazy? Maybe... Crazy like a fox!

I think maybe you should watch Wishes in the park and watch the Christmas Party fireworks show from the restaurant. The view from up there isn't supposed to be the best, but at least you will have a viewing area for a show that you would have to pay extra to see, otherwise.

Sound perfectly sane to me.But of course DH and I ate 4 times at WPE in DTD (plus a dinner at the Puck Cafe ;)) last trip and we always do 2 meals at the ESPN Club. The only thing that stopped us from going to Rose & Crown a 2nd time last trip was we couldn't get a 2nd ADR:sad2:
