Are WDW Photopass Borders Truely "Baked Into" The Photos?

I am currently working on a video slide show from our recent trip. While loading the pictures I noticed that the thumbnails are missing the borders. Does this mean there might be a way to extract the photos without the borders??? The attached photo shows the border-less thumbnail I am seeing. Any idea how this a possible?Untitled.png

My guess is this. When the photo is originally taken a thumbnail is generated and stored in the exif data. The actual image is then edited to add the overlay. That is why your thumbnail is different from the image.
