Are Vacuum Staorage Bags worth the money?

We don't have alot of room in our home to store winter clothing - small closets, no basement and only an attic crawl space. I bought some space bags years ago that ripped the first year. Are they any better now? We need to switch out our closets soon. Our summer clothes are in the attic now. Any suggestions?

For our trip to disney, we all took our own pillows, 2 each for a total of 8 pillows. The kids kept 1 pillow each for in the car and we stuffed 2 pillows into each spacesaver bag. 6 total pillows didn't even take the space of 1 pillow in the back of the SUV.

My wife bought them years ago. They aren't the kind you vacuum. You roll them up squeezing the air out. I shoved 2 pillows in each bag, stacked the 3 bags up on the floor..... and laid down on them squeezing the air out.

The earliest Space bags were awful! They weren't sealed and you had to wedge the ends between bars, then vacuum out the air. The idea was good, but sometimes it was difficult to get a good seal.

Fast forward a number of years. I've used Space bags and some other brands (Pack Mate & Pack Maxx). I actually prefer Pack Mate to Space bags most of the time. Pack Maxx hasn't lasted as long for me. I live in a hot, dry climate, if that helps!

I like the idea of the Space bag cubes, but haven't tried them yet. The regular bags tend to slither around if they aren't contained in some way.

Love the regular vacuum bags for travel, though!
