Are they still doing the paintbrush hunt the first raft ride to Tom Sawyer's Island?

I don't know. I'll just bump this back to page one for you and hopefully some of our veterans can answer your question.

Katholyn

Yes.
Most of them are found within the first hour.

:smooth:  We went and the same family got all 4 paintbrushes and then laughed at us because we did not find any...I thought that was rude. I just would like the captain of the first boat to say that it's one per group...

I'm intrigued! What's the paintbrush hunt?

I thought you had to get more than one to get the prize? Do you only need one?

They still should not have laughed...how rude!

From what I understand, the finders of the paintbrushes turn them in for a "go to the head of the line" pass for the ride of their choice.

She found one when we first got off the boat, then on the way to turn it in she saw another one, well, the cm had told us to do one per family so we left that one. After the boat ride back the cm called our whole family back behind the shack, and ........ well played a little trick on DD then gave her a pass for the whole group to ride splash mt. or thunder mt. that day in the fast pass line. It was great during the busy time. DD still keeps that paper and talks about going on another hunt this Dec.
We rode the first boat over.

Years ago, when we found a paintbrush, we were told that it was just one per family, and I believe it said that on the certificate you get as well.

So, hopefully, that greedy family got only one pass, and a bit of a talking to by a CM as well.

WHen we last did it 4 years ago, the boat driver emphasized that any family grabbing more than 1 brush would be made to stay behind and finish Tom's job of painting the fence! There isn't any incentive to grab more than 1 anyway, as the "golden ticket", as we call it , is for your whole family. I sure hope that CM chastised that greedy family, and only gave them what they were entitled to!

Hi, we did this on Thursday and did get a paintbrush. We got a certificate for a fast pass for either Splash Mountain or Thunder Mountain. I wanted to keep the certificate but they wouldn't let us...have no idea why they couldn't just write on it that it was used  Would have loved it for my scrapbook :(
It was fun looking for them though!

We tried to find it when we brought the kids last in 2000... My question is what does the paintbrush look like?? Is it one of those big fat ones?? We never saw what they looked like and would like to know for next time.. TIA

Yes, it's a pretty big fat one, with the end dipped in white paint, if I remember correctly. They didn't collect our "ticket' when we used it, so my son kept it as a souvenir.
