Are they real pins

Just got both my packages from Disney Shopping.
With sale, free shipping and 25% off a Total of 18 pins for $38.

Got Disneyland, Two different Peter for Mayor (including a spinner) and the vintage toys.

Fell much better about my daughter trading these.
Even if a CM takes the bad ones I got off Ebay, means that someone else will end up with them.

Now the hard part - waiting until our trip in Dec.

I agree, I don't want to see pin trading getting overloaded with "junk" pins, I too choose and buy carefully.

Of course now I am being super cautious about ordering traders on e-bay. I went through pages of great reviews and found 4 on this one that said FAKES FAKES FAKES (I'm paraphrasing here) The sellers response was always look aat my 2200 satisfied customers. Perhaps only those 4 knew better. One of them even said that they were told they were fakes at WDW and went to customer service and they replaced them all w/ genuine disney pins-saying they wanted the fakes off the market. true? who knows but I am certainly going to use authorized disney retailers.

I have been very lucky in the last 2 weeks buying pins off of EBAY. I lost 20 of DDs trading pins (well, I left them on the monorail) and have been trying to build back up her inventory..... I have bought from several different sellers, and each pin has authentic. I purchased one lot of 24 that was $65 thinking that DD would want to trade most of them... but she liked some of them. I saw some lots that just didn't look right, and as you say it it seems like to good of a deal.... think twice!

I got several individual pins that were $.99 and with shipping about $3.00 - cheaper than anything you can buy in the parks.

DD is VERY picky about the pins that she trades for if they are the "fake" or "plastic" feeling ones, she will not trade for them!

I have gotten back all but one pin that we lost that she didn't want to trade, but liked to wear.... that is a 2003 MVMCP pin - it's cost me though! I was worn out from watching all the auctions! It's been a fun week getting all the packages in the mail!

Shoot... I got busy a couple weeks ago and missed the sale. I'm ok on lanyard traders (I take cast lanyard pins to trade back for cast lanyard pins) but need some regulars pins too. Shoot!

I'm done!!! It gets addicting! Not just for DD, but me too.... I have two pair of flip flop pins I got at Disney, so then I was finding beach ball CM lanyard pins, then there were surf boards, the there were beach pails.... not to mention the set of coffee mugs. These are not for trading!

Out of the lot of 24 we got last week, DD liked 16 of them.. and only came up with 8 to trade YIKES - and of course the 8 she traded - she now likes them too. I told her she better come up with a few more before this weekend!

I still wish the person/people who found our pins would have been kind (and honest) enough to turn them into the monorail operator - they were left in the front of the yellow monorail - (by me) - so no one would have had to go out of their way to turn them into lost and found - I called every day last week to see if they turned up!

I think that it is sad that your lanyard was not turned in, there are selfish and dishonest people everywhere. Our collections go back to 1999 and we would be devastated to lose them.

I have been assembling groups of pins for the past month or so. I am giving them to the kids for Christmas. I have been trying to purchase ones I don't think they will really like and will be willing to trade.

My DD likes the Princesses, Tink & Minnie

DS likes Goofy

I like Eeyore and tend to purchase only dated LE pins for myself.

i would recommend buying from sellers with a good rating or see the dizpins.com sale board. Sometimes it helps posting your wishes on this board here and see if any offers come up in PM ..
If there is a specific pin you are looking for just post the pinpics # and i will try to give you a recommendation .
If you are looking for pins to trade away on CM lanyards, disneyshopping has it's pin sale right now and use a coupon code for a further 25 % off ..
so you will be able to get really nice pins for 3 USD a pice or cheaper .
When they started on onday you could get LE pins for 1.25 USD per piece !!

Thank you so much for your helpful post and tips! This definitely seems the only way to go. I am willing to give Ebay a try, but would prefer to buy from a DIS person. Is there a site to look at where people from the DIS gather to sell pins on Ebay? Is there a place to find DIS pin traders and sellers on the Ebay forum? I would just feel more comfortable buying from a seller from this place, than a random seller. I know I may be wrong, but they seem to be more trustworthy. What kind of pins should I try first? I saw something called a "grab-bag" for beginners yesterday. There is no list of what is inside, so it's a "hodge-podge of exciting pins" for new traders/collectors" (is this good?). What a great idea! I should try to gather a few on a lanyard for them to trade (ones they do not enjoy)--as well as a couple of special ones to surprise them too. I'm just afraid our DD won't want to trade ANY of them! She's the more sentimental one. DSIL gave her doubles so she could trade them--and she cried when the CM asked her which one she wanted to give in return for the pin she had chosen (?!). The CM ended up just giving her the pin without taking one of hers! I know this will not happen again, and worry she will turn on the tears again. Any good suggestions to avoid this in the future? Personally, I have stayed away from the following:
Grab bags
Anything that ships from out of the country
Seller with less than excellent feedback with a established selling history.
The words "authentic" "genuine" etc. must be part of the description
If the seller adds in things like "purchased in a gift shop in Japan, but I have no trouble trading them", or even adds "I have never had trouble trading" I run far away.
I prefer sellers that state the items were purchased at WDW
I am not buying $1-2 pins. I am paying on average with shipping about $4 per pin, I don't want the cheesy cheap ones. I want to feel good about what the kids are trading and don't want to be concerned that there would be a question.
I have picked up mostly sets and some LE items - I have checked out the fraud info on PinPics and DizPins. I know there is no way to guarantee authenticity but I am confident with the purchases I have made.

I don't know how old your DD is, but I would explain that her pins are like money. If she wants to get one from a CM she must pay for it with one of hers. Thanks for all the sage advice! I can not believe you mentioned the key description I read in SO many ebay ads ("never had any trouble trading these at WDW, etc"). I too, am too apprehensive with this type of thing. I inadvertantly bought a Disney pin "made in Japan" and brought it to WDW to trade. The CM turned it over after DD handed it to her and commented, "Usually, it must say DISNEY on the back of the pin. This reflects the authenticity. But, since you are so cute (DD) and new to this trading, I will take the pin in trade." This was it for me. DD was confused and embarassed as well as myself!

As for DD--she's definitely old enough to not have such "sentimentality" towards something like a pin, but still apparently very "young at heart" (LOL).
She understands the trading completely, but hates to part with any of HER pins (and constantly asks me for one of mine, which I break down and offer while on the spot in front of a CM). Some days she acts as if she is too old for a plush, and the next minute she is nearly in tears because she wants a stuffed character.

I know all parents experience this, and it drives us all nutty! I'm going to "forget" my extra trading pins on our next visit, and if she really wants a pin--she will trade one of her own. It's just too expensive to keep buying doubles of everything so she doesn't have to give up her own. I am also going to explain the pins are like money, and she can "pay" for one with one of her own--if she wants one bad enough. I will also begin wearing my pins on my lanyard--and trading my own for fun.

Thanks for the wonderful advice. I will check out the dizpins.com board. I have some I am looking at on Ebay. Is it okay if I post the auction number on this forum, and perhaps you can tell me if they are really authentic, and worth the investment? This would be priceless to me. I would hate to pay for some pins, and then receive fakes.

I also never thought about posting a "wish" on here, and someone may pm me with a pin. Thank you so much for the kind suggestion!

I have never visited the disneyshopping site. Where do I find the coupon code to receive the 25% off? Is it only available to pin traders, etc? I would love to buy directly from Disney, especially for the prices you quoted! In the parks, we pay an average of $10 per pin, and they add up fast (whew). I always "see" more pins than I ever buy! Thanks again for all your help.

I would love to get the "stitch keyhole pin" with the little duckies! Is the discount applicable to this pin too? Is the "trading pin bag" a good investment? I currently have no place to keep my pins. Which "set" do you recommend to invest in? I looked at the tomorrowland set, and think it's beautiful. It's fully framed, etc. Do these ever increase in value? I am enjoying viewing all the great pins and items!
