Just got an e-mail from the volunteer opportunity we signed up for. She asked when we were planning on going so she can have those that are leaving earlier volunteer earlier. When I told her Sept. she told me that disney said they were going to only give out 1million tickets and they have already had 17 million sign up  I think it is great that soooo many are volunteering.

Has anybody else heard of any limits on the number of tickets???

TIA

Per how it was announced, "We want to inspire one million people to volunteer a day of service..."

Disney has not specifically said, but it is believe that they are limiting this to 1 million vouchers actually issued. There is no way to know how any people will sign up and never complete their service, etc.

17 million signups seems an awful lot at this stage.

And Disney could choose to extend this to fill out the rest of the year if they choose.

I was having an issue getting my "voucher" and called Disney. The GAD is limited to the first "1 million verified" guest. I was nervous due to not going down till October and we wouldn't be accepted. The Cast Member said the "vouchers" are just something for people to have. When you get to the window they will look you up in the computer to see all "verified" information and be sure you are in the first million to qualify. He guaranteed we are good and wish me a magical day:wizard::wizard::wizard:

The voucher is basically your indication that Disney has verified your service and therefore entitled. Needing the physical voucher in hand may not be necessary, but you need to have positive ID that they can relate to you in the system. Having the voucher will probably make it easier.

I also doubt that 17 million people have signed up.

And what Disney has indicated is that they will be giving one million certificates which may be exchanged for the tickets or certain other items. The certificates will be given after a person has registered, selected a service, confirmed the service with the agency, performed the service, and the agency reported back that the service was performed.

Once the certificate is issued it remains valid either until exchanged or December 15th, when it will expire.

And I personally feel that if Disney comes close to the one million certificates I would not be surprised if they either remove or increase the cap.

I hope they let more than 1 million volunteer. I know from my families volunteering our community very much benefited. Not only did 10 of us work for a day (not all 10 wanted vouchers either) but we went back two times since to make donations to the organization. We learned what items the community needed and I am more than happy to supply them. This would not have happened had it not been for Disney. Such a win win situation for everyone.

Remember the Year of a Million Dreams? I'm sure it lasted more than a year:banana: Disney may see how it has inspired people to give a day of service and just decide to contiune/extend this just like they did with YOMD:cool1:

I would imagine they will also look at how many people have chosen the fastpass option (as it doesn't cost them anything). They may go by 1 million gate tickets, which would include many more people.

Considering its such a huge PR move for them they really can't go wrong either way. Not to mention they get people like us. We are probably going to spend another day and spend money in the park. Although they lose money on the gate, they get an extra day at their resort and another day that we would not normally go to the park. Win win for everyone.

I agree. There are many of us who would go anyway -- and do volunteer work anyway. I have an AP and DD15 has a parkhopper. We'll opt for the FP option and be delighted with that. I was thinking about that the other day and was wondering how the Disney numbers crunchers figured the cost of this promotion. It's truly brilliant IMHO.
