Yes, if you have a studio, you'll have one phone. If you have anything larger, you'll get a phone in the bedrooms and the living room. If you get a lockoff unit, the second bedroom will have a different number.
After a $75 phone bill my DSD racked up at OKW talking to her boyfriend in RI I started taking prepaid phone cards and by following the directions for 800 numbers have not had any phone charges from the room since. Don't use the cards from pay phones though as the surcharge ate them up rather quickly. When I called my DD this week she said "where are you staying, the caller ID says The Disney Institute?" Guess SSR kept those lines.
Even between some of the resorts is long distance, that really suprised me when I learned that one.
And I know of a couple motels up in the White Mountians of NH that do not have phones in the rooms, stayed in one last summer. Thought it was really odd.
We visited Montauk in 1987 when my father-in-law was very ill and we needed a phone. I don't remember the name of the motel but it was a big, expensive one right on the ocean with rooms on the ocean and across the street. They had a bedroom, kitchen and living room but no telephones. There were telephones on every street corner. I asked about the lack of phones but was informed that only one hotel had telephones since it was open year round. Most were closed from October through April. I found it different than what I was used in the way that the entire week had to be paid upfront before you were given the keys. Not very trusting and the lack of phones kind of made sense. From what was said I gather they now phones in the rooms. Are the hotels/motels open all year? Do they still serve 99% fish in the restaurants. I am from the midwest and really missed my beef.
Yeah...and you forgot to mention that most cell phone reception at YOSE is hit-and-miss, if you have it at all. At least in the valley it is. Absolutely a horrible place to visit because of the inconvenience.
Okay...being the most beautiful place on the planet counts for something...
