Are there special protocals for Pin Releases?

I will be at the Animal Kingdom Monday for it's 15th Anniversay and understand that there will be some special pins released then. Is there any special procedure that has to be followed to get them? Will they be available through out the AK park? Will they be available at other WDW parks?

I have never actually been at WDW or DL for a "Pin Release" and am curious.
