Are there long waits to check into your rooms on a Sunday afternoon?

We will be arriving Sunday afternoon on June 14, we should be there about 2:30 or 3:00pm and oh, we are staying at RPR. Are they good about getting you checked in quickly or do I prepare the kids that it will be a long wait? Also, if we do have to wait, is there anything for the kids to do while waiting? We will be there after a 14 hour drive and I know the kids will be going stir crazy! :dance3: Actually, I'm sure us adults will too! ;)

We're checking in same day but hope to arrive around noon. If the rooms not ready we're prepared to hit citywalk, the pool, something.

official time for the rooms to be available for you for is 4:00 pm.

you can check in anytime you arrive but the hotels won't necessarily be available for you until by 4:00

for over 25 stays on site, i have only been able to be in the room 2 times before noon.
the rest of the times it has been in the afternoon with only one time at 4:00pm

you can check in, have your luggage stored and go to the parks.
you will receive your hotel room keys which are needed for the express line for the park rides and shows.

you should receive a call on your cell phone to let you know the room number of your room once it is available for you. no need to stop by the lobby counter before going to your room then.
your room number will be activated on your hotel cards once the room is assigned.

you don't have to wait around in the hotel lobby.
take advantage of the parks once you check in.

if you have ever stayed on site at disney, it works the same way almost.

rooms there are to be available either at 3 or 4:00 pm when you check in.

I think I phrased this question wrong, yes I know about going to the parks while you wait for the room to be ready. But I was wondering if there are a lot of people standing in line just to get checked in? I remember when we went to Disney, we waited in line (to check into our hotel) for at least 30 minutes and that was in the middle of May! I'm having worries about standing in line just waiting to check in and it taking an hour or longer!!!! :scared1:

It really depends...we checked into RPR and got there behind all the people for a convention, and yes, it was a Sunday afternoon. My dh found a desk employee and quickly asked if there was a separate check-in for non-convention guests. There wasn't. He suggested we go to the pool and try to check in about 2 hrs later -- he gave my dh some sort of pass so we could get in. We knew this might happen, so we had suits in a small carry-on. We sat by the pool (ds swam), and then we went to check in later, and we had been upgraded to a King suite!

So, the answer is, if there's a convention, all bets are off. It does pay to speak to the staff, they may make some Mummy Dust for you if you have to wait!

whenever i have gone to the lobby check in counter during the day, not to check in but to get some information, lines have sometimes been long in mid afternoon.

the wait was never more than 12 minutes for me.

more TM's come out to help move the line along each time i was there waiting.

Sounds like mid-afternoon may not be a good time to check in, bummer. And I hope and pray that there won't be a convention group checking in, waiting 2 hours sounds TERRIBLE!!!! :sad2: Oh well, there isn't anything I can do about it, we can't arrive any earlier and I don't really want to arrive later--so I guess we will deal!

Do they still have a seperate dest for Loew's members, You First?

don't know for sure.

last time i stayed at rph, there was a separate line for it but it wasn't being used.

not sure if i remember if they still do at pbh..

They didn't have a seperate line at PBH when we stayed there last June.

Just to clarify -- there was not a separate Loews' First check-in, and I'm not sure we really needed to wait 2 hours to check in...I think we were told that to ensure that when we came back the line would be completely gone, and also possibly so the clerk could swing that upgrade for us. We spent a very pleasant two hours by the pool. It was quite lovely, and not terrible in the slightest! All your amenities are right there, so the pool time could be a lovely start to your vacation. Even after 14 hours on the road, I bet your kids would love the pool, and if they're (or you're) beat, you can just get comfy on a lounger. :goodvibes
