Are there kids' clubs and/or child care at Castaway Cay?

We would like to get a couples massage there, but wondering where the children would go for that hour or two?

To answer your question, YES the Kids Club has an area on CC.
My DD - 10 at the time - hated the kids club/activities on CC. She said it was hot and there was no shade. It was boring and they weren't allowed on the beach/by the water. I felt bad, because she didn't sign herself out and waited until we came to get her because she wouldn't know how to find us (we didn't take the wave phones off the ship).

Thanks for your response! I cant seem to find any info on the kids club area on CC. I guess we'll check it out once we get there and see if our kids will enjoy it or not before we leave them. They are 8, 6 & 5...so hopefully they're more easily entertained!

They have Scuttle's Cove on CC, they take the staff from the kids club and move them to Scuttle's cover on the island to serve as the kids club. I haven't used it yet because we were just too busy to use it but there is one there.

Hi! Yes we have Scuttle's Cove on Castaway Cay. I'm not sure about the previous poster saying something about the kids not allowed on the beach and in the water as Scuttle's is nowhere near the beach! We do have a splash area with trick fountains (which are really fun!). We run activities all day including a whale dig, a beach party and games such as capture the flag and sandcastle competitions. We also serve lunch just like on the ship. Yes it can get hot as it is a tropical island. Just to let you know that the wave phones work on Castaway so please have them with you!

There is no nursery thought on CC right? So the babies to 3 year olds if they want child care must do so on the ship?

MJ

My 3 and 7 year olds said that they had the best time at Scuttles Cove in April.

We had a cabana massage booked and had been worried about our son staying there as he wouldn't stay long in the clubs onboard - in fact we booked him in the nursery when we went to Palo as he wouldn't stay longer than 10 minutes.

At Scuttles Cove he stayed and was happy for the whole 2 hours - he loved it. He even ate more than he'd eaten all cruise at lunch.

My 7yo daughter hadn't wanted to go because she didn't want to miss the Oceaneers Club and Lab (and cos her favourite counsellor was staying onboard), but she also loved it, and is so excited we're heading back there in January.

That's kind of EXACTLY what i said.

By your use of "we" I assume you are a cast member.
Try not to take it personally, but perhaps, instead, consider a different perspective. My daughter practically grew up on the beach - spending every summer at Fire Island. The snarky response that "it's a tropical island" is a bit uncalled for. Instead, maybe the staff should consider offering a bit more shade to the children?
Of course, this was back in 2008, so maybe children's activities on CC have evolved since then.
Disney made it very clear that any damage to the wave phones would incur a $250 charge to the guest - I'm sure it's understandable that folks might not want risk sand and/or water damage - or possible loss- to the equipment.
All I can say is that I am happy she is older.

I didn't take the tropical island comment as snarky but I agree with you that it could provide more shade because it gets hot as hell, because it is a tropical island (you'd think they would provide more shade), part of the reason why we don't send the kids there but I suppose we should check it out next time and just only leave them there for 30 min or so.

Jeez, relax. @KT2038 has been very helpful around here. You might consider a different perspective yourself - that maybe this was just a miscommunication - and ease off on the obnoxious bolded text.

Bolding is used to make things noticeable - not to be confused with caps-lock , which is considered yelling. It is obnoxious to call people obnoxious and tell them to "relax" just because they don't share your point of view. OP asked a question and I answered it. It just wasn't the pixie-dust filled message some were expecting.

I really don't care what your point of view is, and I don't care about pixie dust. In fact, I agree that Scuttle's needs more shade.

I'm quite aware of what caps-lock is for, and actually, I believe what I referred to was your bolded text. Specifically, your own statement of "That's kind of EXACTLY what i said.", where you deliberately formatted in bold and - yes, now that I think about it - also used all-caps on "exactly". It was obnoxious, directed toward a person who has been very helpful to this board over an extended period of time, and who clearly just misunderstood your post.

You're taking this rather personally... OP asked a question. I answered. Sorry you didn't like the answer.

OK so on to another question about CC. If both my husband and I want to do the CC 5K will there be any childcare during that time?

Last time I ran it the people with kiddos had time to drop their kids off at the childcare (Scuttles Cove) before the 5k started

there is plenty of shade in Scuttles Cove - they installed shades in the play area sometime in the last couple of years. Much of the play area is sand, and they have water running and a splash areas as well. our kids love playing capture the flag after lunch. You are able to drop your kids off on the way to the CC 5K. Just like on the ship, you are asked to have your wavephone on CC when dropping off your kids at Scuttles.

This is correct, nursery services are available on ship for the 3 and under crowd.

This. I ran this in May and on the walk from the ship they noted where you could drop off your kids at Scuttle's Cove. It was also covered in the pre-race meeting. The race didn't actually start for several minutes after we arrived at the starting line to allow for those who dropped off their kids and stragglers to get there first.

My 4 year old thought Scuttle's Cove was awesome. He was there for several hours, quite happily. He didn't tell us about anything other than Capture the Flag, but whatever they did, he loved it (we asked, he didn't give clear answers. I would have loved more information/pictures about in advance, as I prefer to understand where my small children are and what they are doing, but we just trusted in Disney and it all worked out).
