Are there ever room/dining discounts at DL?

My wife and I are discussing our first DL trip that we will be taking our 4 year old son with next year. One thing came up that I had no answer for. Does DisneyLand ever have room discounts or free dining like Disney World always has? We've gone to DisneyWorld many times and have always been able to use discount room offers or free dining.

Not that I've ever heard of. The DLR dining plan is vastly different from WDW and in my opinion isn't really worth the bother. Read this:

I have been able to do a few vacations with discounts for DLH. but it was for room only. Might be stay 3 or 4 nights get 1 free. but no dining plan like WDW.
The dining plan at DLR is not as attractive as WDW. You are going to love how close the 2 parks are to each other. Enjoy

One year ago today we received an e-mail pin code for free dining at DL. It was never offered to the public, and it could have just been a test to see how well received it was. We went and had a great time. It was not as good of a deal as WDW's free dining (but similar in some ways), but we were given all the voucher's free as part of the package.

With Carsland opening this year I would not be surprised if there were less fall offers this year than there have been in the past, but I do think there will be some kind of offer, especially for the fall months.

Yes, discounts are usually offered sometime in sept through disney travel. That is ie: stay four nights and recieve one free night with park pass', stay five nights and recieve two complimantary nights with park pass'. The specials vary a little, those mentioned are the ones we normally use. They also offer packages for the PPH and the grand however, with the new attendance records I would not be surprised if no specials were offered this year. Another benifit to using DT are the discounts available to prepay/reservations for dining/character meals, simply stated-prepay for your character meals and recieve a discount on the price. I do not know if that would be refundable if you missed your reservation time or if it will be offered this year due to the larger number of park guests. The wife does all of our reservations, I do not know exactly which day the discounts are usually announced. Sometimes they have some truly great prices on travel deals, sometimes not....
