I know it may seem like a silly question. But I haven't seen anything about it. Are there drinking/water fountains in the parks?
We are going to Epcot, Animal Kingdom & MGM Studios in a week.
there are water fountains but just a heads up, the water tastes horrible!!!!! we took two water bottles with the hopes of just filling up all day with the fountains, BIG MISTAKE. one sip of that water and we swore off it the whole trip.
Not only are there lots of water fountains, some of them even talk to you!
Also, a lot of people think the water tastes just fine. There's a little natural sulfur in the water, but as long as you're not "bottled water dependent" you'll probably be fine with the local water.
As a side note, when Disneyland opened Walt took a lot of flack because a lot of the water fountains weren't installed and hooked up on the day the park opened. There were complaints that this was part of some scheme to force people to buy more soft drinks. Park lore has it that from that time forward Disney has always made sure there's plenty of free water to drink in the parks.
You can buy the Brita sports bottles with the filters built in at Walmart, they are near the filtered water supplies (in hardware or sporting goods). We only drink bottled water, so we found the water at WDW not to our taste. This worked for us. (You can buy bottle straps at any park).
I also took a washcloth in a ziplock bag, and rinsed it out at the water fountains, and then used it to wipe down our hands, faces and necks. It really helped to keep us cool.
We took Brita filter bottles the last trip and they worked out well. I like what Dan Murphy saya about ice water at refreshment stands because often the water is not cold. I could put the ice water in the Brita bottles.
Before leaving home, put some Crystal Light powder in a little zip-lock bag and throw it in your purse, backpack or pocket. Put a pinch in your water bottle...voila....tastes great.<p>

As a caveat to Geoff's post, the actual reason that the water fountains were not all completed on Disneyland's opening day was a plumbers' strike, which forced Walt to choose between working water fountains and working toilets.
Yes, all of our drinking fountains are attached to refrigeration units. Just like turning on hot water at your house, you have to wait a bit for the water between the spout and the unit to move out of the way of the water that is of a desired temperature.
