Dh and I are thinking about buying DVC and we were wondering if we paid in cash, are there deals to be had? Any examples and places where to get the deals would be appreciated!
You can save money buying from a resale broker. Look at the top of the forum for a link to The Timeshare Store.
The resale process takes two or three months minimum to complete and may give you more headaches than buying direct.
Buying direct takes about 15 minutes on the phone and then time to complete the paperwork. With resale you need to wait on a contract that meets your needs, negotiate contract terms, submit to ROFR, spend a lot of time in a holding pattern and possibly start over from scratch if DVC exercises ROFR. But you WILL save money.
DVC doesn't negotiate pricing and the terms are the same if you pay cash or finance. So resale is your best bet if you are in no great hurry and have the money readily accessible.

We were paying cash when we purchased our original contract directly from Disney. I asked the question and was told there are no special cash incentives.
What we wound up doing was washing the purchase through our Disney Visa card, which gave us those reward dollars. Disney will take a payment on the Disney Visa without charging a convenience fee.
