Are there any solo travellers out there doing Adventures by Disney; how did it go?

Posted on the the ABD site, too.

I'm looking to hear if you enjoyed the trip as a solo traveller?

I'm thinking it might be tough to fit in. I'm assuming that it's likely you will be the only solo and how do you fit in with families and such?

I don't want to really dine alone, either.

Then there's free time to contend with, as well. Depending on the trip I might be too afraid to venture out on my own.

I can see some families getting very close on these trips and I wouldn't want to intrude, either.

Is it possible to enjoy an ABD as a solo?

Wow! Great question. I have been pondering the same thing. I would love to do Ireland and Scotland but no one will go with me. I have been thinking the same, that it might be a bit uncomfortable to go on a Disney Adventures trip alone.

Also wondering the same thing. Was interested in either Ireland, Scotland, or Norway. Did my first solo trip to Australia last year not with Disney and it was great. Booked myself on a few tours but would have been nice to have a travel buddy.

I haven't done it but it's on my list to schedule a solo trip with Adventures by Disney hopefully within the next two years. At the moment I have been using the majority of my vacation days for Disney Marathons and Disney Cruises.

It would be great if they set up trips for solo travelers!!

I like this idea. Maybe, it will happen sometime.

Unfortunately, my feelings are more negative than positive at this time.

I would love to do ABD, but the single supplement makes it too expensive. Most of my single friends aren't in a financial position for a trip like this. It's the same problem I have with Disney cruises. I can't justify paying the price for two adults for myself alone.

Your post made me remember this ABD story I read on the Today Show website about a single woman who has taken multiple ABD trips.

I don't have enough posts yet to link to it, but the title of the story is "Disney's group tours grow more popular with adults".

I have also thought about doing this, with a show stopper being the single supplement.

To address the issue with families, there are trips with age limits. This would greatly decrease the amount of parent / kid groups on the trip, which you would think should increase the number of singles, and at least friend groups which may be more open to include a stranger.

When you mentioned the woman who did several ABD trips single, I knew it had to be our friend.

We are a family of four and met her on the Hollywood ABD trip. We still keep in touch and meet up from time to time. She is an incredible woman and there was no awkwardness at all. So if you want to do it, then don't let being single stop you.

Yes that is the article! I'm a brand-new member so it would not let me create a link to it. That article is the first one that opened my eyes to the fact that these trips aren't just for people with kids.

Thanks for sharing the article. It makes me feel very safe doing these trips.

I did Scotland last year solo and had a blast. As a matter of fact, the lady mentioned above with all the ABDs was on my trip as was one other solo. And I have another friend who has done about 4 ABDs solo. The group was very friendly and got along well. I had always wanted to go to Scotland and could not think of anyone better to show me around than Disney. Having said that, I had to do quite a bit of saving as it is as you all have mentioned, pricey for a single.

oh, and as far as interacting with families, I had no problem. There was only one meal where I was looking for someone to eat with and this nice couple invited me to join them. I think I only ate alone once and that was because I went off to explore the town on my own and got separated from the others. But there were probably only 4 kids on my trip and they were on the older side for the most part. I sat next to two other really nice couples with their kids on the bus, and we all talked while we went from site to site. Would I do it again ....yes.......but would just depend on where and the cost.

I have been on the Wild Africa Trek solo. It was great! The other Trekkers were a mix of couples and families. I met the nicest people. The CMs were marvelous and the experience was truly magical.

I see from other posts that this is not the type of Adventure you meant. Oh well, a little additional information that may be useful sometime.

For my info, how much is the single supplement? Is it the same as a cruise - double ? :(
