Are there any Plans on adding new DVC Resorts?

I don't know if the per point cost could be lower but the amount of points needed to stay would be smaller, I could see a smaller contract point.
I dont know.
But when DVC started it was a hard 160 point for the lowest contrat now you can ussaly get away with 100 points being the lowest. So is it un-realistic to think they could lower the minnumum again to get more sales. I think this is a conversation for the execs and the bean counters. I can not even think of how a "low cost" sysytem would work. I for one would not like to see this happen. During the speculation around GF there was talk of a tiered system and that bothered me. At this point I dont want to stay at GF but some day i may want to. So to lose the chance because I bought in at a lower tier is sad to me. I like the cost point they have know and hope they contiue to stay aound that point. It took a lot for me and DW to have the finacial stability to make the purchase and I would hate to see the DVC loan defaut rate go up because a lower price point brings in a less finacialy stroung client base.
Actually when it started it was a 230 minimum IIRC. Then it went down to 210, then 190, then 150 then back up to 160.

Where would you put it at Epcot- that's easy! You'd put the entrance in on that empty pad between China and Germany (where the little Africa kiosks are) and have the hotel behind it, themed to and directly attached to whatever the new country is, in line with the way GC attaches to DCA! If you look at the satellite view of the site, there is definitely room so long as it had either vertical or remote parking for the guests.

New country pavilion to make the repeat park customers happy, plus a new billion dollar Disney profit attached to it via a dvc that would sell fast. Less need to have restaurants dedicated inside the dvc hotel, since it would be attached to the world showcase. And more likelihood members staying here would always get theme park tickets so they could use the world showcase.

Oh, if only...

This is brilliant on so many levels!

I could be wrong on this, but I remember hearing somewhere that they have enough land in Florida to build 7 parks....has anyone else every heard that?

They have plenty of acreage, but they want a buffer between themselves and both Orange and Osceola Counties. They have a bunch more land to build on but a lot of it is true wetland in Osceola County far from the main attractions already in place. Also, you have to remember, some of the land may not have parks/hotels but probably has some infrastructure in place to take care of the parks and hotels (water treatment, sewer, power, etc.) as Reedy Creek is directly responsible for the provisions of these, not either of the counties.

If they build more DVC resorts, I hope they are "high demand" resorts, not like SSR, which has resulted in more competition at 7 months from people trying to get away from their home resort.

When Beach Club DVC opened we easily got a 2 BR at a month out -- in Sept I think it was, maybe Oct. I bet the number of DVC points owned has doubled since then.

DVC looks to continue with high demand resorts at least for the near future. The Poly will certainly be high demand. And with the DHS rumored expansion it would seem a DHS back door access DVC would be hugely popular. :)

Is the Poly confirmed or is it still just rumors?

Just rumored as so many have posted. I wanted to point out that absolutely nothing has been filed with Orange County nor South Florida Water Management District. Usually filings with SFWMD shows up 12 months or more before the construction blue prints are filed with Orange County. But there hasn't been anything yet. I would think the Poly would definitely need filings with SFWMD as quite a bit of the plans Tikiman talks about appear to change the shoreline or affect Seven Seas Lagoon.

Isn't 7 seas lagoon man-made?

Would that affect requirements to file?

Also, regarding post above, what is DHS?
