Are there any GOOD places to eat in MK?

Hi all,

Last year at MK we made reservations at Tony's Town Square restaurant, and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. The food was really disgusting, even though the prices were high. We are not the pickiest eaters, but everything we had was just plain gross.

We will be going to MK for two days in May with our 6, 4, and almost 2 year old daughters, and I am hoping to get some suggestions from other people about where we can eat that is decent. We have reservations for a lunch with the princesses, so we are thinking more about where we can eat for dinner both nights. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much! :)

The Plaza is good and moderately priced (for Disney!).

hop the monorail and go eat at Kona @ the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian Cafe at the Gr. Floridian hotel. Or walk over to The Wave at the Contemporary. None of these places will take a lot of time to get to, and you can go right back to the park afterwards. They all are family-friendly so your little ones will be fine.

Or try for the Crystal Palace in MK, or Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary if you want a buffet/character meal.

Agree with The Plaza for a less expensive "lighter" meal in the Magic Kingdom...they do take reservations.

I second The Plaza. It is very good!

I would recommend either the Plaza or Crystal Palace. The Plaza is really a hidden gem that most people don't know about (although it is still busy because of its small size). We eat at Crystal Palace every trip. Sometimes for both breakfast and dinner.

We really enjoy Crystal Palace with the Winnie the Pooh gang, We also enjoyed Liberty tree tavern but, it is no longer a character meal and not that it was the main reason we went (my kids are teens) but, we really enjoyed the characters so I don't know that we will return.

Our all time favorite though is O'hana and it is a quick monorail ride to the poly and easy to do from MK.

Have fun-

I agree with those who recommend Plaza for a lighter meal, or going to a MK resort for dinner. I don't think any of the MK restaurants provide a good, quality dinner. Plaza's food is very good, but it depends on what you like for dinner. My 2nd choice would be CRT. As a disclaimer, we haven't tried TTS, but have eaten at the others. You already know you don't want to return to Tony's though.

we ate at Liberty Tree Tavern Dec 29, 2007. It was ok but we expected a little more. It was a character meal when we went. It was our sons 8th birthday and he has pictures with pluto etc. I had ordered his birthday cake there long before the day of the meal and when we got it it was still frozen. Altho it tasted better frozen than it didn when it thawed out lol

We have eaten at Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree Tavern, and The Plaza and really enjoyed all of them!

For table service I feel like the Crystal Palace is a sure win. We adore the breakfast there. It's a beautiful restaurant with great character interaction and wonderful food.

If you're at all interested in counter service - I'd go with Columbia Harbour House. They have good fish and I've heard nothing, but good things about the New England Clam Chowder.:cutie:

Also for counter service if you need one Columbia Harbour House is a favorite. They have an upstairs seating area as well and it is normally not as noisy a real nice place to realx. But I also agree with Crystal Palace, we eat there when we have our grandchildren and when it is just adults we love the breakfast and dinner. :goodvibes

I second this. We have been to MK dozens of times and "discovered" the upstairs seating area on our last trip. We had a table right over the walkway and had great fun people-watching. It was quiet and very relaxing.

I'm another for either hoping on the Monorail to the Kona Cafe or walking to the Wave, both were favourites on our last trip.
SD:thumbsup2

One more vote for getting out of the park for a breather. After all day in the MK, it is always nice, especially for the little ones. A few options:

Monorail to Kona Cafe/Ohana at the Poly
Boat to WCC (or Artist Point for a real treat) at the WIlderness Lodge
Walk to THe Wave at the CR

Have fun!

The Plaza is decent for an easy low-key meal if you don't want to leave the park - try the Reuben.

I don't think you can go wrong with Crystal Palace....for us it's the perfect lunch break. Normally for dinner we either would have an earlier CS meal in the park (say 5:30...6 at the latest) or leave for the evening and eat elsewhere....dinner time in the park is just SO busy that I'm not surprised that the food quality suffers.
