I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I HATE bees and wasps...and its gotten worse this year cuz there are so many. I never really thought about having to sit to wait for the parade for an hour, with food, etc, and have these things flying around. I don't remember having any issues with them last time we were there, but I thought I'd check w/everyone else.

You know...

Come to think of it I too have a thing with bees. As in, I HATE THEM! I really dont ever remember having a problem at WDW. I dont know if there is something that is done or if its just the volume of people that keep them away. I imagine that if a nest was to start to form that they would take care of it during the next night cleaning shift. With the amount of people that are in the parks there has to be people allergic and im willing to bet Disney has them in mind and takes care of things like that fast.
Just speculation though. :)

I'm allergic to bee stings and they've been bad this year where I live. However, I don't recall ever having a problem in Disney before but since I leave in 2 days :cool1: I would be interested in people's thoughts as well!

i only recall seeing a few wasps when we were there in 2002 but they were mainly round the rubbish bins due to the lolly wrappers and other sticky stuff-dont recall seeing many of them other wise!! :Pinkbounc

I dont know if they "still" do it it not at WDW but they used to but, they do spray for insects, namely mosquitos, that also keep away other insects.

Again I dont know how often or if they still do it there, but I know a popular thing in South Florida is they fly old WWII era bombers over a couple times per year in the middle of the night (trust me, I think the Germans are invading and I feel like im French) just over the treetops, dropping insecticide.

While some have commented on mosquitos at WDW, I personally (I go every month) have never noticed a problem even with mosquitos even around the Seven Seas Lagoon.

The only places I have seen them is near some of the trash cans. During the summer when we went to Typhoon Lagoon, they were also hanging out near the soda refill machines. But they had traps by these as well.

I just got back from a week down there, and I'm thinking I didn't really see any bees or wasps...that's not to say that they aren't there, just that I didn't see any.

There are a couple of weeks during the Spring and again in the Fall where there are a plethora of bugs they call "love bugs". We were at WDW in September a few years back and they were everywhere. They get their name because you'll see several of them flying or crawling around "stuck" together. They don't bite or sting, but they can be annoying because they are literally everywhere and they will crawl into your drinks and/or food. I don't even know what they're really called.

Now this is true. However, as said, they do not bite or sting.

They are numerous but are only found a few weeks per year.

I don't recall even seeing a bee or wasp at WDW.

However, I was at Universal a year or two after it opened (back in the ealry 90s). They had to clear an entire section of the park because a huge cloud of bees had swarmed the park. I've never seen anything like it before - these bees made a sphere that must have been 20 feet across.

I think Disney treats their property for bugs. I've seen the occasional honey bee at the resorts in the flower beds, but not in the parks, despite all the flowers they have there. I know I usually am a mosquito magnet, along with all other creepy crawlin critters. Somehow, they always cross my path no matter where I am. When I'm at Disney, I never have a problem, especially with mosquitoes. I'm sure they have bug repellent that they treat the grounds with.
