Are there AKV owners that will only stay in Jambo or Kidani?

Jambo for me. Location, location, location. When I'm at wdw, I'm rarely in my room. I try for value studios at jambo, but if I'm bringing friends then I'll go with a sv view, but still at jambo. :lovestruc

Jambo CL for us- we tried Kidani for opening day ( a short 3 night stay) and I was not a fan. I'm in a power wheelchair, so if it's raining it's a HUGE inconvenience to go over to Mara for some QS food and in the summer when you're already hot and tired, it's a real pain. Hopefully Kidani will get a QS dining option and then this won't be such a big deal. I like being in a self-contained hotel, again esp. for weather issues. CL has gone so far downhill though that it's no longer as important to us. I wonder if DVC being part of CL motivated the huge downgrade in the food offerings. No other CL at Disney is so limited.---Kathy

Could you elaborate Diane? Looking at the floor plans, I figured I would like the Jambo studios better. In Jambo, the shower and toilet are in a separate room so someone can be using the sink area while someone else is taking a shower. Plus the mirror won't get all fogged up from the shower.

What was it about the Kidani studio bathroom layout that made it work better for you?

I think the larger area of vanity was one thing, and we don't usually try to have both of us getting ready at the same time anyway, so the shower in the same room as the sink isn't an issue. I also liked the toilet being totally seperate. That way someone can use the WC when the other person is in the shower.

Can someone tell me how far of a walk it is b/w Jambo & Kidani... how many minutes? Thanks!
I timed it when we were there earlier this month. It took me less than 5 minutes to walk from the end of Kidani to the entrance of Jambo. Bear in mind our room was on the first bead at Kidani nearest Jambo.

We did a very casual relaxing stroll and was able to talk the whole time without losing our breath...about 10 minutes for us. We walked from Jambo to eat at Sanna for lunch.

We prefer Kidani. We do like Jambo though. We do eat at the Mara for lunch or on ocassion breakfast. We love the secluded hot tub at Jambo. But we like the quiteness of Kidani, the pool is a nice touch with the nice waterslide. We do not stay at the park all day. We go in the am and stay till 1pm and then come back and get off the bus at Jambo and go to Mara for lunch then come back to Kidani for the pool. We do love Boma and will try Sanaa for lunch.

I think for me, there will be times I want Jambo and other times Kidani.

Last week I was in a Kidani 1 bedroom with DSis and a DGF and it was fabulous. We did have a long walk to the lobby, but we were at the end closest to the pool. There's an entrance to the pool at the bottom of the "hill" and so the pool was very convenient for us. All we had to do was take the last elevator down to parking and walk a bit, and there was the pool's entrance. There's an animal viewing area with 2 CM's right there at the pool, and all of us really enjoyed that convenience. The second bathroom made it especially nice, so, with other DGFs in a 1 bedroom, I will always pick Kidani. Kidani is also the building with the dedicated 2 bedrooms.

I think that sometimes the 3rd bathroom wouldn't be as important and those times, I would book a 2 bedroom in Jambo. I prefer the studios at Jambo. I like the two sinks and the convenience of Mara when I'm in a studio. I also have had quite a few reservations in value villas, studios and 1 bedrooms, and I will continue to book them. In the past, I've concentrated those value reservations on weekend stays, but I can see me booking a value 2 bedroom for some future "Gals get-aways!"

PS. Kidani does not have a sauna or a steam room. That's a definite plus for Jambo, and I also prefer the spas/whirlpools at Jambo.
