Are the water parks open in the rain?

I realize that they probably must close in thunderstorms, but if it is just a showery, or even generally rainy day, are they still open? I am thinking that if they are, that might be a good time to go, because less people would be apt to be there then. Since we will be there at the end of this month, I wouldn't be worried about getting cold or anything. What do you think?

Thanks!

We went to Blizzard Beach mid-Sept 2007 on a grey and rainy day (however it was still hot & humid) and the park was near empty. It was possibly the best day of our vacation as there were NO LINEUPS whatsoever! :goodvibes That same week we went to Typhoon Lagoon on a sunny day and the difference was dramatic (huge line-ups). I would guess that as long as there is no thunder & lightning, the waterparks are open, and likely to be much less busy on a rainy day.

That was my thinking...thank you for the confirmation.

In looking at the long range forcast for our dates, it is looking like rain for our "planned" day at TL. Maybe that will work to our benefit!

All parks thin out crowd wise in the rain, but the waterparks take it to a whole new level! We spent a deserted day in the rain at Blizzard Beach a couple of years ago. It was incredible. My son rode Summit Plummit about 8 times with no wait, My daughter and I had the wave pool to ourselves. No standing there waiting to pounce on an empty tube like usual!

Animal Kingdom is another fabulous place to do in the rain.

Just don't go to Disney Quest in the rain, since that is what everybody else does!

We did have to wait under the roof of the gift shop once at BB during a thunderstorm but as soon as that passed, they opened everything up again and by the time they did, everyone was gone. So I have two nice days at BB in the rain. Frankly to me its the best place to be! No ponchos, no feeling like a wet soggy soldier truding to the next ride, you're already wet so it doesn't matter.

We only close the water parks if there is electrical storm activity within five miles. Once there is no activity within five miles and any that can be seen seems to be receding we reopen. Actually the park does not close, but all slides are closed and people must clear the wave pools and the beaches.

Definately head for the waterparks when its rainy but not thundery. No crowds and your getting wet anyway =)

Thanks for all the replies...Now....SHHHHHHH!!!

Don't tell anyone else the secret!!!!:lmao:

We had a FABOULOUS time at TL during TS Fay last year! :thumbsup2There were maybe 50 people there at opening. One of the PP Photographers took about 30 shots of my DD. We didn't get burned or have to worry about the hot sun beating down on us. It was the best day every!

Wouldn't you get too wet in the rain at a water park?
Not if you ducked down below the surface in Castaway Creek or whatever they call that big circular loop qround the park you float around in on inner tubes. That surface, like a roof, will catch the rain and let it run off instead of onto you. You'll get wetter when you pass by the squirt guns that folks on shore use on you.
