Are the buses always running to and from Typhoon Lagoon?

I am making plans for my parents using one of the transportation calculators. Often, the only bus option to get to and from another resort for dinner is to catch a bus to Typhoon Lagoon and then switch. Are those buses always running? What time will they stop at night? TIA!

I've never even heard of using Typhoon Lagoon as a bus hub. I wouldn't recommend it. I can't think of a situation where the bus isn't shared with Downtown Disney, and that will take a long time. If you need to switch buses, go to a theme park. Pick the closest theme park that is open. Remember the buses operate up to an hour after park closing. Use Downtown Disney only if you have to (all the parks are closed).

Typhoon Lagoon probably closes well before all the parks do, so what you'd really want is a Downtown Disney bus, and I repeat do not use DTD solely as a bus hub unless you have no other option.

I was using the transportation wizard at Our Laughing Place. POR to WL...

If I was going that route, I'd do either:

Port Orleans Riverside bus to Epcot. Epcot bus to Wilderness Lodge.

OR

Port Orleans Riverside bus to Magic Kingdom. Boat from Magic Kingdom to Wilderness Lodge.

Whichever of those 2 buses came first to your bus stop (Epcot or Magic Kingdom), I'd get on.

Best way is to go to Magic Kingdom. Switch to bus or boat (there's a direct bus between MK and WL in addition to the boat)

I would use Studios before I'd use Epcot.

Most of the time, the DTD is the Typhoon Lagoon bus because they are so close.

I suggested the boat because it is more scenic.

Why Studios over Epcot from Port Orleans?
Epcot is closer to Port Orleans AND closer to Wilderness Lodge than DHS with 0 red lights on the way. The route to and from DHS has several red lights where the bus can get stopped, plus heavier traffic.

I would strongly recommend that you not use the OLP transportation wizard - it has some pretty serious errors.

Transfer at a park - MK is best, followed by Epcot and DHS. What time is the ADR?

Because of the space between bus stops at Epcot.

DHS buses also don't wind around between two bus areas like Epcot's do.

I don't think red lights are a concern. I'm from DC where they synchronize every red light so you must stop at each of them. Piece of cake at WDW.

The problem with using TL as your bus hub is that it closes earlier than other parks and this time of year it closes at 5pm and if the weather is at all suspect, TL may not open at all...period. Would hate for your parents to be waiting for the bus to TL and it never shows up.

MK or DTD would be my choices.

Thanks everyone. My parents are 75 and 80 (my stepdad has mobility issues) and would hate to give them bad information!

Want to get them from POR: to WL, POR to YC, POR to GF and possibly POR to AKL.

POR-WL: see PPs
POR-YC: bus to DHS, then boat or walk to resort
POR-GF: bus to MK then resort launch or monorail to resort
POR-AKL: bus to AK then bus to AKL

If I might make one other suggestion.....I realize there is a cost involved but taking a cab between resorts is very convenient and fast. Typically a cab ride from point a to point b around the 'world' is around $20 one way. Again, I appreciate the cost, but at their age it might be worth it on occasion or at least one way. I always clear the fee with the driver before getting in and ask an estimate. We have been taken advantage of one time from Polynesian to DTD.

I know the cab issue can bring 'flames', but I am only trying to help. Warm wishes!

No flames here! I already have suggested a taxi as an alternative to the buses on the night that they are dressed up for a special dinner. :thumbsup2

I agree with your suggestion. A cab will probably work best for them in each case.
