I can't help but wonder if you get a room at the Swan for $65 per night, if you are looking out your window at the dumpster or something of the sort. I know it would not be a water view but just wondered if they try to put those customers in the worst locations?

In June, we stayed at the Dolphin on the Hotwire rate. Here is a view from our room from our BALCONY:

To be honest I don't think I would get really hung up on view unless you intend to sit on a balcony for hours. I would sit in front of our window for only a few minutes at a time. We were on 12th floor (1262). Direct view out was parking lot but could see Fantasmic area & ears water tower to right - back of Boardwalk to left and top of Spaceship Earth. Were there better views? Yes - Were there worse view? Yes. Were we happy little campers who were so excited to be there it was nearly nauseating? Yes.

I don't know when you plan on vacationing at WDW--if you don't mind spending a little more you can get their Labor Day Sale of $99.99 a night and be guaranteed a water view room. Offer good from Aug 28-Sept 9

WE had a great view at the Dolphin and we booked through Hotwire. Our view was of the Boardwalk.

We are planning a trip around December 12th so the Labor day rates are too soon for us, but thanks for letting me know. How can you be ALMOST sure you are getting the Swan or Dolphin thru these web pages? I have read some post that say if one of the amenities is a Spa, then it is not the Swan or Dolphin. I am so nervous about booking that way. I don't want to end up way off property. Any info is appreciated.

My husband and I are the only two going this trip. Is it hard to get a room with a King Size Bed. If I score the hotwire rate can I then call/fax Dolphin and request a King Size or do I have to wait until check in? What is the other bedding? Doubles or queens? We have a great $110.00 rate at POR with a King at an AP rate. Don't know what to do!!!!!!!!!!

I just booked 3 rooms at the dolphin for 2 nites in mid August!

I have never used Hotwire before and was so very nervous! I too thought I'd wind up with reservtions at some other place but the prospect of saving $$ was to great a temptation. I discussed it with hubby and the kids and they all said try it!! IF it was available for the entire trip (9 nights) I'd do it, but the 4* hotel with the spa comes up at $69.oo a night, not the dolphin. I even tried breaking up the trip into a few different nites at a time, but -no go-...So 2 nites at the Dolphin (at 1/2 the nurses rate I could get) and then the FTP at the Poly!!

I'm so proud of myself for this!!

By the way, we paid rack rate in '94 for the Dolphin (before I found these boards) and had a "lovely view" of the roof and parking lot !

What made you pretty sure you had the Dolphin? I know it is a 4 star, but what else did you look for?

On another thread started today, it was stated they were pretty sure the Dolphin is the only " WDW area, 4* hotel, with the icons for:dining, swimming, fitness, business access, golf, tennis, and laundry", on Hotwire(But they could'nt be sure). If the spa icon comes up it is a different resort.

I knew we weren't gauranteed the Dophin, but since a few others had luck, our family talked about and decided to try it. If we didn' t get the Dolphin, we'd be ok at another 4* hotel. My family is so tired of hearing me run through alternitive options, they probably just agreed with me to keep me quite!

I looked up the travel dates of people that had luck getting the Dolphin, to make sure I knew what icons to look for, then checked my dates, and hoped for the best.

Good Luck!
