Are soups/salads considered appetizers when using DP?

Can you ask for a soup or salad in place of an appetizer using the DP? Meaning, if the soup/salad are not on the "APPETIZER" section of the menu. Thanks in advance!!!

In general YES, from the research that I did for our upcoming August trip on the meal plan. You can either order the "appetizer" from the "appetizer" or "soups/salads".
You can ask a CM if you are not sure.

Last year I ordered a salad as my appitizer at all the TS we went to, I'd always ask the server if I could have that instead.

Just there in feb. Answer - yes. At Sci-Fi I had BLT soup, at Le Cellier we ordered a caesar salad. Most places are very accomadating. and quite frankly, many servers seemed to actually push us into ordering lots. They get more tip if the bill is more money.
