Are Reservations Necessary in September?

My wife and I will be staying at the BCV from Septemeber 10th through the 17th. We picked that time hoping that the parks will be a little less crowded.

We also ordered the meal package. I'm still not sure that was the wisest move. My question is should we still make reservations for restaurants now?

The main problem is we don't know where we're going to be each day so making a reservation could be a problem. We've never done the meal plan before so this may make a difference as far needing to be more organized than usual. I was kind of hoping that with less people going to WDW in Septemeber we could make reservations each day at the parks instead of right now. Since this trip is being planned as a second honeymoon (with no children) we just want to go where ever the wind blows us and we will find something to eat where ever we end up. However, saving some money is also not a bad thing either. Any opinions?

Also does anyone know if the trip was ordered through AAA and paid for in full a couple of days ago, can I still cancel the meal package and receive a refund. The meal plan on our reservation was not part of the room or tickets package.

Thanks and sorry for such a long post.

Yes, you should definitely make some ADRs. We're going 9/24-9/30 and I made all my reservations back in June. I called last week to change one of them and nothing I wanted was available. I've read reports here in the last few days of others having trouble getting what they wanted for September too. I think with the free dining promotion, the restaurants are going to be very busy.

Good Luck!

I also like going where the wind blows BUT with the free dining everything is filling up very fast and I have a feeling that a lot of "walk ups" (especially for dinner hours) are going to be turned away the whole month of September. I'll be there 9/4 to 14 and made my ressies weeks ago. If you have your heart set on particular TS's I would make your ressies ASAP if I were you. You can always cancel them when you get there. Have a great time! :goodvibes

I'm taking my 4 yr old to Disney for the first time 9/25-10/1, and thought I could wing the whole thing as far as eating; luckily, my TA called me when the new dining package came out, and got me to make ADRs for the whole week - glad I did - especially the 30th for MNSSHP!
