Are "old-fashioned photo albums" (with the plastic sheets that peel) still for sale?

Hey there,

I've checked out both Walmart and Michael's searching for those "old-fashioned" photo albums - the ones with three rings, and the pages that have the plastic sheets that peel back, so you can place your pictures on the page and then re-stick the plastic sheet down, really smooth :) No luck. Anyone know if/where these might be found?

Thanks,
D

I found some nice ones that I used to give to my bridal party at the Hallmark store. They are really hard to find now. If you look at walmart again, try the stationary section. I don't know why they are in that section but that is where I bought one recently.

Try hobby lobby. I know I've seen them there recently. Just make sure the pages are acid free if you do find them. Otherwise they'll ruin the pictures over time.

Both our Walmarts have them. in the camera dept-At least they were, they have been on a kick lately "let's move everything around so nobody knows where anything is"

Pottery Barn has a wedding album in a case that has those pages. It's a little pricey, but it's the first time I've seen those pages in ages...

All good to know - I literally went through the entire photo album section at our (pretty small) Walmart, and came up with nada. Also nada in the stationary department ... I'm going to google "Hobby Lobby." Thanks!

Like was mentioned, just be careful with those because in time (and in a lot of cases not a very long time) those albums will ruin your photos.

I have some that are less than 10 years old that are already in bad shape.

I believe I have 2 brand new in the packages. One is just a brown standard look and the other is a light blue with some design on front. I can look.

I think they are hard to find because they aren't usually acid free (I'm not sure if they ever are??) and they will cause your pictures to deteriorate after a few years. I'd be very careful buying that type of album, I'd make sure it said acid free before I put any picture in it.

I have photo albums like that from 30+ years ago that are fine. I never knew they were bad for the pics. Now I'm going to have to drag out my albums and make sure all is still good.

But, Dana, if you still want them, Target sells just the sheets (I think it's 20 per pack) and you can put them in any album you want. I was VERY excited when I found them, since they really are scarce these days. I blame scrapbookers. ;)

eta: they were in the stationery dept.
