Are Oakley sunglasses an item you can buy in St. Thomas or St. Marten?

This will be our first time to go to St. Thomas and St. Marten and I read on the board somewhere that sunglasses can be bought duty free on the islands. Are Oakleys available there? My son is wanting a pair of these and I told him if they are fairly reasonable there I would buy him a pair.

You should be able to easily find both real Oakleys and fake ones all over the ports of call. Keep in mind, the company sets standard pricing for their products so you will pay the *same* price for a pair of sunglasses on the islands (or anywhere) as you would in the US. You will save on the tax, however.

The Oakleys you will find that are too good to pass up are not real... not even close, but look cool. I bought my son and daughter 3 pairs of minutes last summer for $25. If you want genuine Oakleys, but don't want to pay full Oakley price check out e-bay.

Do your research before you buy. As has been mentioned, Oakley sets their retail prices and they must be sold at that price. Discounting is a no-no unless a retailer tries to fly under the radar. One word of caution.....it may be an Oakley frame, but the lens is easily switched with a sub-standard(ANSI) lens. As an Oakley retailer, we do not allow returns or exchanges for this reason. You know the saying..If the deal seems too good to be true, there is a reason why.
