Are King bed rooms handicap rooms?

Are all king bed rooms handicap-accessible rooms meaning no tub just a walk in shower? I am looking at a room at the CSR or the AKL and I keep reading that the king rooms do not have a tub is this true for all the rooms in these resorts? And is it true for all the rooms in all the resorts?

We stayed in a king room twice at All Star Movies...first time had a regular shower and a fridge and second time had a handicapped shower and a fridge. we didn't request a fridge it was just there so maybe both rooms were handicapped? Only one had a special shower though. Sorry this probably isn't too helpful

I stayed in a king room at the AKL at the end of March and it was NOT an accessible room.

At the Polynesian, GF and Beach Club we have stayed in accessible rooms with roll-in showers and each of these rooms had two queens.

When we stayed at AKL we were told that every King room is a handicapped room. There are many, many levels of handicapped accessible rooms, however. The CM looked up the list of handicapped accessible codes and told us our room was equipped with a larger entrance to the vanity area. Other than that, the shower/tub set-up was as I imagine every 'non-handicapped accessible', room would be. If we hadn't *known* this room was handicapped accessible, we wouldn't have *known* this room was handicapped accessible.

We were in a suite at the AKL last month. It had a king in the master BR. The doors were a little wider, and slide into the wall rather than opening in or out. There were grab bars by the toilet, and it had a large roll in shower with a handheld head on a verticle to be adjustable. It also had a seperate bathtub.

We have also stayed in a handicapped room at the GF with two queens, a roll-in shower, no tub and an automatic door opener that wouldn't shut until it was ready to (what a pain!!).

I didn't like this room as I like my baths and hated waiting for the door!

Anne was that room at GF on the third floor of Sugar Loaf? If so we've had that room twice and it is heaven for my DD. That door allowed her to enter and exit the room in her power chair without anyone's help when we were there in December. You can not imagine what a big deal that is to her. The pocket door to the bathroom is great too. The suite at AKL sounds wonderful too. Did it have an automatic door? Not that a suite is in our future!

Bob that's interesting...perhaps my room at AKL was like the one you had with a wider entrance to the vanity. I didn't notice because I had nothing to compare it too.

Nope--3rd floor in Conch, direct castle view That was the one thing we loved about it.

Now I'm sure for your daughter it would be heaven, but for us...it wasn't It sounds like the same layout you describe--pocket door to the bathroom, but no sink outside the bath...which was another issue for us.

At the AKL it didn't have an auto door. But everything else in that suite would make up for it If you can ever swing it, even for a couple of nights, do it! You wo'nt be dissaponted. Just an FYI though, the connecting 2nd BR was not accessible, and the accessible bathroom was off the master BR. The bathroom was as big as the bedroom in a deluxe--I'm NOT kiding! It had to have been at least 20' deep by 15' wide!

I know from personnal experience that not all King rooms at POR or POFQ are handicapped-accessible. And the only time I did have a handicap-accessible room at POR (no tub, etc.), it had 2 double beds, and surprising to me, it was on the second floor. However, at the All Stars, I think that all King rooms will be handicap-accessible-no tub.

Our king Deluxe Savannah View room at AKL had a tub. We had the same type of room the next year, but with 2 queens. I sure couldn't tell any other difference than the beds, so I can't imagine there were any handicap features in the king room. We'd take that room again in a heartbeat.
