Are Jungle Cruise and Grt Movie Ride too scary for toddlers?

We will be going next week with DS, age 2 1/2. He hates loud noises, and I seem to remember some fake (of course!!) but loud gunshots from CM pop guns during the jungle cruise. Do they still do this?? Is there enough warning to where we could cover his ears or is it a surprise? Don't mean to sound so overprotective :) but even as an adult I remember about jumping out of my skin when they "fired"!

Along the same lines, are there any scary parts to the Great Movie Ride at MGM?

Thanks so much for any input or advice!!

During the great movie ride there are scary parts when you go through aliens. They have a shoot out toward the beginning of the ride but if you request seating in the rear it won't be so loud.

Been twice with toddlers and they had no problems. Youngest DS (4) has developed an aversion to very loud noises. We're taking earplugs for him this time. If he doesn't like the noise, we just pop in the earplugs.

Just went on jungle cruise with ds 5yo and ds 2yo. I don't recall a scary gunshot in it. My 5yo is the scared one and he liked it. My 2yo is just along for the ride. I keep earplugs from Eckerd for my 5yo in my purse. Fireworks used to really bother him. I think he's growing out of it.

No more guns used on Jungle Cruise.

There are some scary scenes in GMR. Another poster mentioned the shootouts - there are two. The front half of the vehicle gets a western, the back gets a ganster shootout.

The Alien scene as well as Indiana Jones tends to scare some little ones.

Our daughter was never afraid of GMR. She began experiencing it when she was a month shy of her 2nd birthday. She's now 3yrs 3mos.

I have said since our trip last yr that TGMR is a good way to determine how your child will do on other rides. It really doesn't get dark and the scary parts aren't long or very scary. TGMR was the first thing at WDW our then 2 1/2 DD rode and she loved it

Our 2 very young daughters had no problem with the Jungle Cruise; however, there were parts in the Great Movie Ride that had them a little shook up, but not to the point of tears.

Our first trip the kids were 2 1/2, 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 and the GMR scared my oldest to death- it was the first ride we went on and we weren't sure he was going on anything ever again! The younger ones did fine!
Also the 4 yr old ended up being the thrill seeker by the end of the week!
I think it depends on the childs personality !
