Are EE parks still the place NOT to be?

I know that in the past the park that was EE that day was a nightmare by noon and advise was to make EE then skeedattle to another park.

Does this still hold true? ( i know that EE went away there for a while and is now back under the name of "Extra Magic Hour". Not sure if the abscence threw off the rule or if it still applies.)

We did EE only for MK in December and we left by 1pm, but not because it was terribly crowded, but we were wiped and needed a break.

Yeah, there were people there, but it wasn't a zoo at all!

Maybe if we had stayed a while longer for the parade, we might have seen an increase.

Maybe in the summer it's different with the larger crowds.

It probably depends on the time of year. Last Dec (slow time), we went EE to MK on a Sunday. Things were OK but there was a 15 line at Space Mountain by 9:00. By 10-10:30 people were really streaming in. After our 11:30 lunch at CRT, we left about 12:30.

We went back to MK that same Thursday. Also an EE day, but we didn't arrive until 9:00. It was emptier at 9:00 than it had been at 8:00 on Sunday. All morning long just about everything was a walk-on, including all the mountains.

Things may be very different during busier times, but it seems to me at least at MK that weekday/weekend is more important than EE/non-EE.

I have always gone to the EE parks, and will continue to do so. On my last trip, CM's were asking everyone to show their Disney resort id and I saw several people being turned away from other hotels. I think the time you have before the gates open to everyone is great, with little to no wait on some of the best attractions. I also love going at the beginning of EE and strolling around taking in the atmosphere.
